There is alot of debate on how effective the OEM calipers can be...

Heres a short snippet of them hard at work last weekend.

Car is equipped with ATE Superblue, and Hawk HT10's / Blues Front to Rear.

Has aftermarket ducting but other than that, stock braking system.

Enjoy!

besides the dive bomb manuever with oem calipers... I just love the track action as open passings...

and, something that's weird and exciting, the track is right alongside by the freeway and it's visible both ways. Something that we don't see here up in the NW.

The track looks fairly low speed. The NSXs brakes should handle repeated abuse there without any issues. Now turn 4 at MidOhio or the bus stop at Watkins Glen, or the hairpin at Spring Mountain -amongst many examples, slowing the car from 110-140 is a different story. Even at spring mountain, scrubbing 80mph off the fastest straight (from 110-120ish) the stock caliper/rotor worked fine. Good to see track videos of NSXs though!

The entry into that 'kink' is around 105-110mph ish for me. I have to scrub it down to around 45ish to negotiate that turn.

The lap time for me on that track was 1:06 with an average speed of 75mph across the course. To put it into perspective, the recently closed PIR netted a 74mph average speed for the same car. To give a little more perspective due to the "GO PRO EFFECT", this track is 2nd gear at the kink and turn 10 (120 degree to the right before the straight), the rest is 3rd gear or just a tad into 4th. Its a tremendously fun short track, clearly setup for karting and Formula Atlantic style cars. It gives us lower HP cars a chance to keep up with the higher HP evo's and unlimited cars in the Time Attacks!

I am going to AMP next weekend though! Can't wait! Lots of 120mph to 50mph turns!

I believe those calipers work very well until you start adding some significant power / speed above the stock capacity!

OH its great, on that straightaway, you can wave at people and they will wave back. Its hilarious!

I wish i hadn't lost my camera at Mt Lemmon or i'd give u a few laps at speed!

The camera car is a miata and I know that a 2000 lb miata will outbreak my NSX even with Brembo GTs and PFC01. The video means nothing.

The OEM brakes with good pads are more than adequate for HPDE use, but to say that the NSX has great brakes is absurd.

I don't think anyone used the word 'great' :)

man i wish i had the budget for a second track car as the miata would be high on my list. cheap and can be so freaking potent!

Now a turbo miata would be really fun!

My stock brakes hold up fantastic.

With Ate Blue/Gold, PMU Max900i pads, NA2 rotor upgrade with Racing Brake 2pc front rotors, and GT3 brake ducts, I don't get a single bit of fade, even on a brake intensive track like Eagles Canyon.

Sorry about the wind noise.
