Hello all,

Newbie here...I've been reading off and on for a few years. I've finally decided on an NSX after being through probably similar head-wrangling to others (viper, ferrari, corvette, porsche, etc.). probably reached the same conclusion for the same reasons. anyway...

Prices seem to be all over the place. In this thread is someone who is/was able to buy a 97 for around $40k...we have a dealer in Houston selling a '91 stock w/ 24k miles for $40k...prices here seem either to be higher or I don't know.

I see in the South Central group there are some houston members...I will try posting here first so i don't break the first rule and double post. so hopefully the Houstonians will see this...maybe i'll post a pointer there.

anyway the question is, where's the best deal?
-- here on nsxprime?
-- EBay?
-- yahoo/autotrader?
-- somewhere else?

many many thanks in advance.

My primary purchase targets have been a somewhat lower mileage pre - targa NSX or a someone higher mileage '97 for all the reasons previously discussed.

Get the previous owners name and try and contact them. I've done this numerous times in the past and they usually have no problems answering questions, they have nothing to lose. There are a few Prime members in the Houston area that I'm sure will help on this. They are super guys. GL.

Wait, did you say Houston owners?? Psshh, those guys are a bunch of uptight fancy pants that leave there NSX'es parked in their cozy garages!

J/k, seriously though, if you want a 97+, keep searching. You might want to broaden your search a bit. You can also try craigslist, I've seen some NSX'es pop up around Texas. Your best bet would be to grab a fellow NSX Primers car, because they seem to be much more knowledgeable. Not always, but I would feel more comfortable finding something here. Which I did...

Good luck! If you have any questions, search, post on NSX Prime, or Private Msg someone. Be an informed buyer!

I dumped my first nsx in two weeks in May.... I proceeded to buy my second nsx off of ebay. I purchased a 97 for $39,400, I did run the car fax and call the ebay seller like mad. The car did come with complete service records and carfax said no accidents. I feel that ebay is not a bad place to buy "higher end" vehicles because the previous oweners usually take pretty good care of them. I have a buddy who also purchased a M5 and cl600 from ebay and all the cars came out staight.

Not that i own stock in ebay, but they seem to be a decent place to buy high end vehicles just as long as you know what you are buying and know what to ask the seller.

And good luck on your purchase!!!

btw I live in LA and the car was in NY so i had it shipped to me and the process was painless.

I live in Austin and could not find a suitable 97+ in Texas last year. So I expanded my search and eventually bought a 97 with 23K miles in Denver. I flew up there and drove it home over a weekend. I paid $43K for a very fine nearly stock NSX.
