Does anyone know what kind of material the NSX uses for the undercoating and where to buy it? The undercoat is a thick grey rubberized coating that is quite unlike the black spray on undercoating that one buys at Pepboys.
Thanks.

I would say it is most likely Japan factory use only. They (H/A) have a lot of chemicals, and such, they do not make available here.

Sometimes you will get a grease or silicone packet with a part, and it is all Japanese writing. Usually the silicone is an extremely high quality sealant too.

I use a product from Wurth, a German company, and it is sprayed on using a proprietary gun fed by a compressor. Looks correct and I'll bet this is what they use. Both the gun and material are expensive and I don't know if they service retail customers. It does look the same. This company also makes the various coatings and, is a OE provider for Porsche, Benz etc., all of their products cost more and are of a higher quality than the offereings from 3M. Evercoat etc..

Are you sure the undercoating is grey? The Primer color of my NSX is Grey and I was thinking your under coating may be a clear parifin type coating. Scratch off a sample and see what color it really is.

Wurth make both types as well as others.
