Can you fit a lovefab turbo, have a competent tuner set it up and then never have to touch it again?

- my car is 91 manual, collectors car, but still 18 years old- does this factor when using turbo? Std internals with basic kit and aem and waic.

- Being from Ireland i didn't know that you COULD even turbo an nsx....now everytime a go on prime it seems like i'm one of the few who doesn't have an fi system......are there a group of owners out there who extol the virtues of keeping the car standard? Maybe exhaust and headers but little else?

Be interesting to hear opinions

The nsx is an absolutely fantastic car just the way it is. However, with tons of horsepower, it really does take it to the next level. Mine is na for now, but I have driven 500rwhp lovefab turbo nsx's (lovefab owned) and it is awesome. Once my turbo miata is finished, my unsuspecting nsx is next... Lovefab has done a ton of cars, many of which have had a lot of miles put on them. They can also tune remotely but emailing datalogs and tunes. Do you have access to a competent shop?

There is nothing like the feel of a Turbo NSX!! I have ridden in both the Angus and Lovefab and they are both GREAT!!

Thanks guys!

I had heard about the remote lovefab mapping, sounds excellent.
Yes,i have access to an excellent tuner, worked on my ITR sc and it ran flawlessly.
Mase has tuned a car here (vortec s2000) with good success, but came toengland a few years ago and blew 4 of the 6 cars he tuned....so mixed reports there.

ALSO cody is the only one of the FI brigade to offer to fly over, fit and map it for me...which i was considering too...

I just want it to be fire and forget because once he leaves...i got no backup...

Do the turbo cars idle ok on the aem? Even with a basemap?

Many thanks

Ouch! I'll be sure to tell Mase he sucks even more than I usually do. ;) Surprising though. Were there extenuating circumstances?

The drive-ability of the ems on the nsx is remarkable. Starting, idle, etc... And then the boost comes on and you are gone. I really want this, can you tell? I seriously need a suspension under the miata to get it under control for the track next year though.

I don't think there were extenuating circumstances, but it was quite a few years ago- when i was driving an ITR a few of the members brought him over tune their turbo integras and a few popped shortly after.I remember them saying that he did little more than a few wot runs on the road, no part throttle work on the dyno etc...

THink it is amazing that i can put the car on a dyno in ireland and cody can tune it remotely....

Jamie,

I told you if you wanted ultimate power then its turbo...nothing will beat a turbocharged car.

If you wanted to keep the N/A handling characteristics of the car then its the stroker motor.

Turbo will have a lot more components that you should get to make it more efficient or safe. I would suggest that you change your valve springs and add a billet oil pump gear if you are going turbo. Of course adding an oil cooler kit, baffled oil pan and accusump won't hurt either.

Otherwise the Lovefab is a good choice but there are others too....they have the most out there with no one stating any problems. They are like the CTSC's in reliablility, but nothing is guranteed 100% no matter what when you start modifiying the motor. Engine builder and tuner is very important when it come to modding.

Jamie,

.. I would suggest that you change your valve springs and add a billet oil pump gear if you are going turbo.

Why? Are there any cases where the valve springgs have broken, short off 10K+ RPM shifts, and even then?

Titanium valve springs are lighter and more brittle. The stock ones are very good, keep em.

Actually, the number of FI owners is minuscule compared to those of us that are NON FI.
You refer to your car as a 'collectors car'. How come? If it has some special significance to it, then if you modify it(turbo) it will drastically decrease the value of it.
