I am looking to replace my old NSX factory car cover. Any sugestion on who may have the best price on one?

I also have read several positive reviews of the cover that HRant offers. I'm sure that if you did a quick search by topic or his handle, you'd find those threads.

I have to get off my fat butt and order one from him too.

whats wrong with the stock car cover?

Don't feel so bad if you have an OEM one; I used to have one too ......

Really, there is nothing wrong with the OEM one if you don't mind its bulkiness and the fact that it leaves noticeable fuzz after every use - especially visible on darker color cars. If you want protection from possible dents, the OEM is a great choice. Its jsut that mine has other advantages that the OEM can't match

YMMV.

Edit: Typo

I disagree with Hrant's experience of the OEM car cover.

>>there is nothing wrong with the OEM one if you don't mind its bulkiness
Mine fit into a smallish square bag nicely embroidered with the NSX logo

>>and the fact that it leaves noticeable fuzz after every use
Not my experience on my Formula Red car

>>If you want protection from possible dents, the OEM is a great choice.
Huh? The cover is thin cotton. This will NOT protect your car from dents.

There are lots of different materials in which car covers are made. Some are softer than others, some are more durable than others, some can be folded to be more compact than others, some are more water-permeable than others, etc. Different materials for different needs. Compare your needs with the material comparisons and guidance shown on the websites of car cover vendors like California Car Cover and Big Sky Car Cover. Both of these vendors offer quality products at excellent prices.

I guess my experience is different than Soichiro's as well:

True, but I can fit three weather shield covers (roughly equivilant to Hrant's cover) into the same bag as the OEM NSX one.

Hrant said that it leaves fuzz on dark cars. Some may consider Red Dark, others may not, but it is really a matter of how picky you are. I have a Suzuka Blue S2000 (metalic sliver/blue) and use the OEM S2K cover (made of the same stuff as the NSX cover) and it leaves fuzz all over the car. I also use the OEM NSX cover on my black car and it leaves a TON of fuzz on that car. It is just more noticeable on black cars, and it gets worse with the age of the cover. A brand new cover will fuzz less than one that is a year old. I am on my second OEM NSX cover. If your's is new, that could be the reason you don't have the fuzz problem,.... yet.

The difference in dent protection between the NSX cover, the Evolution 4 cover, and a Hrant's cover (Like CoverCraft's Weathershield) is actually quite large. There is no cover in the world that would protect our car from a full size car/truck door being opened carelessly against our car. However the Evo4 and the OEM cover are at least 4 times a thick and have much more shock protection than Hrant's or the Weathershield cover. These covers will better protect your car from those who like to lean their car door against your car. But you are indeed correct, no cover will protect against all door dings.

Hrant's cover and the more expensive covercraft WeatherShield cover do have some very distinct advantages:
- Size (Roughly 1/3 the size of the OEM cover and 1/4 the size of an Evolution 4 cover (Made my Kimberly Klark)
- Dust Protection. With its tighter weave it lest in much less dust, and because it is not cotton, it does not produce its own dust.
- Greater H20 protection. These covers hold *no* water, and if left on when there has been a heavy dew, will shake off much more water than will the OEM or Evo4 cover (meaning you don't put a wet cover into your trunk)

I could be wrong, but I have owned a cover for every car I have ever had so I like to *think* I know about this stuff,.... but I am always open to learning more.

Cheers!

Jeff
