Tonight I went out for a cruise to enjoy the cool night air and the ol' NSX. I ended up on Ocean Parkway, a long, straight road that heads east out of Jones Beach here on Long Island. On a whim I let go of the steering wheel and to my amazement, the car stayed perfectly in lane for nearly half a mile!! Mind you the road was somewhat bumpy and there were no tire ruts for the wheels to follow. I was amazed as the car just kept going straight as an arrow. Just thought I'd share this very cool and unexpected experience!

I had the same thing happen to me shortly after I got my car. I think it went a mile before I finally put my hands back on the wheel.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get it that straight since.

Interesting topic..

Driving my new NSX from Wisconsin to Oregon, I tried that several times. On one stretch in S. Dakota I covered over 2 miles without my hands on the wheel...at 100mph. It wandered a bit, but always come back to center. I only grabbed the wheel because I was coming up on another car. Heck...I have no idea how far it would have gone. I think corn fields keep in centered.

yep, this feature regularly amazes corvette drivers that have ridden in my car. "you mean this thing is 11 years old!?":)

I wondered if the slow steering ratio has something to do with this, or maybe it's got something to do with the car's aero, suspension, alignment, etc??
My S2000 can't even stay in the same lane for more than 4 sec. without my intervention with the steering wheel.....
