Just installed NRG quick release but I don't know if I tightened the hub to the column too tight. Does anyone else with this setup get rubbing between the NRG hub and plastic housing around the steering column when taking turns?

I have the nrg quick release setup with I think version 2.0 or whatever. No rubbing.

I didn't know you could actually tighten the hub to the column to tight, but I tightened it as much as I could.

you got the srk-150h nrg hub as well? It's not the QR that's rubbing, it's the hub =P

Yeah I know what you're talking about. It's short, and attaches to the big bolt that held your last steering wheel on and you're supposed to mark it to keep it straight.

I really don't think you can over tighten that since I only got a certain amount of torque on there until my wheels started to move, and at that point I think I had someone hold them the best they could.

I THINK there may be a thread on how to install it on here somewheres. I remember reading about it 4 years ago so if you search it may still be up there. It'll have pictures and such and tips saying "don't strip the golden torx screws" on the steering column. See if maybe you took something off you weren't supposed too?

Can't really think what else it could be. Is it a bad rubbing or is it just slightly touching?

I installed the same hub recently and get that issue if I lean on the wheel while turning 3/ point turns etc.

I guess you could put a foam spacer discretely behind the hub to stop the grating sound or cut away the dash part that touches.

My manual steering is so heavy I tend not to do big turns anyway so no issues haha. Best of luck sorting it out.

yea when I tightened it the wheels eventually locked and I got it on pretty darn tight. I have an idea tho now. Imma add some felt behing the hub and see if that'll take away the friction sound between the metal hub and plastic housing. I'll post back results later.

forgot to post the fix and results of my problem. I took ryu's advice and went ahead and unscrewed the plastic shroud and as I screwed it back into place and pushed it away from the hub as I tightened the screws, this gave me just the clearance I needed for it to not rub.
