Now I have a reason to watch NASCAR

MMmmm... Nope, I still don't want to watch NASCAR. I wonder how all of the die hard pro american people will welcome this.
As for engine and horsepower, it will be basically the same as all of the other cars. That is the whole point of NASCAR, keep the car as equal as possible. It will come down more to reliability.

Ditto. I just can't get into oval racing. (yes I know NASCAR does race in a few road circuits, but for the majority its still oval racing) I like to see cars turn left and right, and at least slightly resemble their street counterparts like in GT racing. NASCAR dont even have headlights for gods sake! They have decals of headlights!!!

is it possible that NASCAR made this move as american sales are dwindiling and toyotas seem to be surging ahead? jsut a thought cause if things are going the way they are there might not be a nascar in the future if they didnt let other ( non domestic ) car makers into there circuits.

I remember reading 5 or 6 yrs ago when Toyota was entering the truck series (I think) they had to find people & equipment for making cast iron blocks again. Having to relearn old technology just doesn't make sense, especially for a company that is also in F1.

NASCAR could be interesting if the cars actually were V6, FWD, 4 doors with a cage and engine mods, suspension, & brake upgrades. Instead of cookie cutter pushrod V8s w/ RWD & a tube frame. And big penalties for making unclean passes & contact. Make things closer to what the stock car is and allow some innovation, not cookie cutter clones driven by rednecks who can't turn right and refuse to drive cleanly.

see idon't get it.

that's not a camry.

NO part of it is from the Camry, or any other car that's actually out there. Most are front wheel drive sedans... that is quite the opposite of an 800HP RWD handbuilt racecar.

It's like Honda in F1 calling each car a Civic...

maybe the imports will do so well that the rednecks will get pissed and stop throwing all their money and time into NASCAR, and the series will die out!

For my viewing attention the best "stock car" series in the world is the Austrailian V8 Touring car series. Those guys are insane.

Nascar is only fun if you are there, and even then it is only fun if you have hot pit passes, and garage passes. I got hooked up that way once @ Pocono. Now I can't see attending a NASCAR race any other way.

If you have to sit in the stands, it is better to watch from home.

that ain't sayin much.

I canceled my Speedchanel subscription due to they show toooooooooooo much NASCAR (crap). They should chg the channel name to NASCARchannel

I guess i'll be missing out on the F1 Season this year. :frown:
