This weekend I meet up with another NSX'er and swapped cars for a few test runs. We each have all identical mods except for a couple. I have I/H/E, gears, r&p, clutch and a 50 shot wet system. He has everything I have minus the NOS plus a Comptech Supercharger and his car is much slower than mine?? What gives? My car turns 12.20 in the quarter and he can barely get 12.90. The only thing I can figure is that he has 19 inch rims and I was running 17 inch. I now have 18 inch rims, but the diameter of the tires stayed the same b/c I got a lower profile tire(275/40/17 vs. 275/35/18). He has a 275/30/19 and it doesnt look any bigger than my tire. Would this be the difference? I am trying to find out if this is abnormal performance for this charger. He is very disapointed right now. thanks for the help.

What shot nitrous are you running? Running low 12s, I assume you are on the bottle.
If you compare a NA to SC NSX of otherwise same configuration, and the SC NSX is slower, the car is being driven wrong or something is wrong with the car. SC systems such as the Comptech blower develop power at all RPMs, so there is no "powerband" that the NA NSX would be superior to a supercharged car.

However, it is an apples-oranges comparison between SC vs. Nitrous. Power delivery and function is completely different. Depending on your shot, it's likely that you are putting more power to the ground.

Comparing tires, the delta between the two rears are within a 1/10 of an inch, so that is likely not a contributing factor. However, the added weight of the wheels likely is, and more so, the lower profile likely makes hooking up more difficult.

I just saw an article that mentioned twin superchargers or a transmission to change the gearing of the supercharger. It never ends.

The SC guy should have the car dynoed. The best way to tell if the SC is delivering the goods is on the dyno.

Track performance is too inconsistent with variations in traction, track conditions, driver skill, etc.

I have personally witnessed someone who had never driven the car before shave .5 seconds off the owners time on the first run. The owner had been running the car in its current trim for a year and had consistently been getting roughly the same times. More experienced driver, same exact car and track, .5 second difference over the owners best time on the first run...

Adam S. is running twin Jackson racing superchargers(engine is in the front)

WRONG...Adam Saruwatari is running twin turbo at 1000hp (7.77@171 mph)and yes the motor is in the front...
Realistically the car should not be concidered as an NSX as everything from stretched, narrowed body, motor in front ,carbon bodied, tubbed rear, funny car chromoly cage and tubular chassis, the list is endless....I am not at all putting down the car .I know Adam. But it might as well be a rx-7 body or other, simply put I'm glad it looks like an NSX.....

You also have to throw in how with the NSX's drivetrain and setup, its not uncommonly known that it is an extremely difficult car to launch at a track. I've seen an SC NSX run 12.4 and I've seen the exact same car run a 13.3 (which should be right around stock, even for a 3.0 which it was).
