Folks, after a year of resting form NSXPO 2003 - where we partnered with Northern California Racing Club for our track events, some of us track junkies are dumb enough to contemplate resuming the organization of putting NSX specific high performance driving school/events, again!
As you know, since 2003, several organizations have sprouted offering track events. But none match the enthusiasm and especially the social camaraderie of smack talk that we had when we organized NSX track events. And we should note that these events would not have happened without our many sponsors and especially Niello Acura's generous sponsorship. Our last club event at the track was organized/partnered with NCRC at Fernley back in April which drew about 18 NSXs if I am not mistaken. At other track events, the most number of NSXs that we are seeing are about 6 to 8 - mostly the same regulars.
So, before we jump into this risky proposition again, we would like to gauge your interest in participating at primarily NSX exclusive high performance driving school/events. Such events in the past drew consistently about 40 NSXs at Thunderhill. All our events include mandatory in-car instructors for novice and low intermediate run level drivers, with strict safety rules regarding expected conduct at the track. This does not mean that weekend warriors and boy racers will not have fun too; we don't want to spill the beans yet
Please let us know your interest by sharing your responses to the following questions; if you have questions of your own you want to add, by all means please do so:
(a) Would you attend a track event if it falls on a week day (Monday -Thursday)?
(b) Would you attend a track event if it falls on a Friday?
(c) Would you attend a track event if it falls on a weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday; might be able to do a 2 day event)?
(d) Prices have gone up since we put these events. To break even we would need about 60 cars, with a one day registration fee of about $250 at Thunderhill and about $300 at Infineon. Laguna Seca might be slightly higher. Are these registration fees a concern?
Competition for track days has increased and we have to act more opportunistically to secure days - which means grabbing dates on short notices and most likely partnering with other car clubs or organizations to reach break even budgets. We would like to target dates in April and September (around Labor Day at Thunderhill has been our previous norm). October will have NSXPO 2005 in Phoenix.
Cheers,
Hrant
