Tired of winter? Ready to jump right into track events? Done a few events at GingerMan, and ready to take on the most fun and challenging track in the Midwest? Come to Mid-Ohio!

This year, for the first time, the Northern Ohio Chapter of BMW CCA is holding TWO drivers schools at Mid-Ohio. The early one, on April 9-10, is in addition to their annual school on Memorial Day weekend. Cost is $330 for the April school, $360 for the May school. For information and an application, contact Harvey Rogers at (330) 655-2707 or [email protected].

I have driven on 23 different tracks, and Mid-Ohio is still my number one favorite of all of them.

I'll be instructing at both events. Hope to see you there! (Anyone else planning to attend?)

I hate you Ken. I might be there.

p.s. You need to get out to VIR. It's a real challenge, not as "dramatic" of crests like Mid-O (wheelspin cresting hills at the exits of... umm.. 8 and 11), but uphill esses, rollercoaster and hogpen are major fun.

I'm eager to try VIR (although 800 miles is a lot further - a REAL lot further - than I prefer to drive to go to a track event). I was scheduled to instruct at a school there a year ago, but they had a (highly unusual) foot and a half of snow the day before, and the school was cancelled.

HA! That is a lot of snow. Reaching the track would probably be the hard part. Running out there in the snow on Toyo RA1's would be the fun part. Wheeee!

I talked to my Dad, well actually I talked to my Mom who gave pops permission to come out to three (count 'em, three) events this spring. BMWCCA Windy City Road America (I'm going), and one more in April if his calendar is free enough, so this may be it. If he doesn't make it out, I'm still considering the two early April NASA events (MidO/RAm).

The third event is the ITR Expo, he's coming out to that too. Early Happy Fathers Day gift. Damn Hallmark. :P

One other spring event to throw into the hopper - Hoosier Chapter BMW CCA is having a school April 16-17 at Putnam Park. For those who haven't driven there, Putnam Park is a great "novice track" - lots of runoff makes it safe, and the turns flow together nicely (versus, say, GingerMan, where you've got too many straights between the turn to consider it a "rhythm track"). No, it's not Mid-Ohio, and it's not Grattan, but I always enjoy going to Putnam...

I will NOT be there. As good of an opportunity the drive to Mid-O would be for me to break in the fresh motor, I'm going to run NASA Road America April 9/10. $295.

I plan to be there. I just talked to Harvey Rogers last night to confirm availability and he said there were still openings available.

I'm looking forward to a great event.

Ooops. Change in plans. I won't be able to attend the April event after all. Big disappointment for me.

Chris,
Are you the guy in the middle? I will try to find you this weekend at RA...you might melt though 60's sunny both days...your car will love it though. See ya Saturday!!

If anyone is planning to attend the May 28-29 event at Mid-Ohio, I am looking for someone interested in sharing a garage there. Each garage fits two cars (as well as tires, tools, etc). The cost of the garage is $87.50 per person/car for the two days (it includes Friday May 27 if you're driving that day or would like to drop off stuff in advance).
