I was surprised to find that a lot of the members here do not own NSXs, but that they are motivated future owners of NSXs.
As for me, I do not own an NSX yet. I have been looking for one in New England area for about a year, but got sick and tired of waiting so that I have extended my search nationally.

Many NSXs owners have been extremely helpful checking out the cars in different locations. Nevertheless, I am at the point where I just feel too bad to ask to check out cars for me. I feel like I am "free-riding" or "taking advantage" of good hearted people (all NSX owners have good hearts).

I was thinking that if we could exchange information on the NSXs currently in the market (for instance, classified in nsxprime, autotrader, car.com, yahoo classified, and etc.) that we have considered/looked at/checked out indirectly/directly, we can substantially reduce the time and effort altogether.

If you like this idea, please send me an email. I will make an email list of those who are in the market, and send out emails whenever I check out different NSXs in the market.

Thank you.

To NSX owners, thanks for helping us out with many requests and questions.

It's an interesting idea, but also remember that it's just as much about the seller as it is the buyer.

I would never consider checking out the car if the buyer isn't serious about actually closing the deal---and this includes low-balling the transaction price. I've volunteered a few times, and once the guy was hoping to get the car WAAAY under market value. I politely asked him not to waste my time, or the sellers...

I realize that Tiger740 posted about this to try to get buyers together, but I think it is also helpful to get the perspective of those of us who check out the cars on your behalf. And I'm glad that AnotherNSXGuy brought this up.

I am only speaking for myself, but I have checked out quite a few cars in the Chicago area on behalf of buyers around the country. I am more than happy to do so - but, as AnotherNSXGuy points out, I would really like to do so only for buyers who are serious about a particular car. It takes a fair amount of time to do so - typically up to an hour inspection time in person, plus travel time to and from the seller, which is often 45 minutes each way to get to another part of this metropolis of eight million people. I know how valuable this service is for out-of-town buyers, and I take my part in the process very seriously. I don't ask for anything in return (unless they want to go out to dinner together to celebrate if and when they come to town to pick up their car) but I also don't want to spend several hours of my time for someone who isn't serious. AnotherNSXGuy used an example of someone who is only lowballing. Another couple of examples I've seen are (a) someone who is simultaneously having several NSXers around the country check out different cars, or (b) someone who is having more than one NSXer in this area check out the same car, without either one knowing that the other is doing so.

Please use our time effectively, and don't waste it. Do your homework ahead of time, before you reach the checkout stage. You can get a pretty good idea of prices on NSXs from the usual web sources and making phone calls to ask questions. Figure out what you're looking for, and what's available, and get a sense of fair market prices. Find the car - the one car - that you intend to buy if it checks out to be represented accurately. Make sure it's within your price range before checking it out; maybe you haven't actually finalized a deal to buy it, but you should be close enough in price negotiations to feel that this is going to be "the one", as long as it checks out.

Make sure you understand what the person is going to do in checking it out, and what his background is. For example, I don't negotiate prices; that's strictly between the buyer and seller. (If either party asks me my opinion of a fair price for a car, I'll give it, but I won't do so unless asked.) I have a good eye for overall appearance and proper functioning of the car's systems, but my checkout is not a substitute for a thorough technical inspection by an NSX mechanic, which is a good idea as a complement to my review.

Again, I'm happy to check out cars for potential buyers. I also know a lot of NSXperts around the country who are also willing to do so, and I'm happy to refer folks to these other owners. But please, use our services wisely, and don't do so until you're well along in the process, as a final verification of the deal you're ready to close - NOT as a way of doing your shopping for you.

As a recent purchaser of an NSX, I think it would be very helpful to have a database of known NSXs (complete with point-in-time CARFAX reports, inspection results, prospective buyer comments, etc.) to refer to. I'm aware there are some vehicles already documented in the "crash & burn" section, etc., but a centralized database could really save prospective buyers a lot of work, at least in the initial stages.

I'm already saving for my second NSX

What is market value? Is it the asking price or the actual selling price of the car?

I have been watching and inquiring owners after the sale took place and found a consistancy in the sale price being $2-5k under the asking price. So if you see an asking price of 30k, don't be suprised to find out that the car sold for 27k. It is rare that you will find a private sale fetching full dealer retail.

Also, FYI - There is a 91 red NSX [Automatic] for sale by a dealer in NC... the car fax showed and accident via police report to the passenger front side of the car.

Market value is the selling price.

That's often about right - assuming that the asking price is reasonably in line with other cars. Keep in mind, though, that if you look through listings like autotrader.com you'll find that some asking prices are way out of line (too high); that doesn't justify a selling price that's similarly out of line.

Thank you so much for your continuous support and help! We'll keep those in mind when we shop for the NSX. Personally, however, I know how much NSX will make me happy, and as NSXTACY always mentioned, I would rather take my time to find "the one" than settle for something that is in so-so condition.

Currently, I made a shocking discovery that the used car market for a luxury car has become extremely soft so that my current BMW 740 is worth much less than what I expected. So I had to re-budget myself, and focus on 91-92 rather than 94+. For instances like this, it would be extremely helpful if I could talked to someone who has been looking at 91-92 since I mainly looked at 93-96.

In any case, thanks for your comments.

Hi Tiger,
I believe we met briefly at the NH NSX 2002 at the Marriott in Nashua, NH. I forwarded your message to an owner of a Black/ Black whom is a former attendee selling his car.
He is located in Peperelle (SP) MA.

Good luck in your search.
Rich (NH Event organizer).
If you would like me to put you in contract, to see if he still has his car. Private me at: [email protected]

I'm not sure if this is simply a coincidence...
however, I sent several pictures of my 23K,
2 owner Black/Black 91 to "Tiger JK" a couple days ago in response to an email.... safe to assume this would be the author of this topic?? Also, Rich H of NH mentioned my car a few replies earlier - as I mentioned to him last month that I needed
to part with the car. Quite a few
local NSX owners have seen my car at local
New England gatherings over the past 2 or 3
years and can certainly provide you their
opinions on the car. If you are interested,
Email me & we can set-up some time. As 91's
go, this is one of the nicest originals in the northeast.

I'm wondering if this hasn't been discussed b/f. If not its a good idea if its able to be done. A register of some sorts if you would of the current owners on this forum w/history, purchased dates, milage, mods. While thousands exist and not everyone visits this site it could be a start. If you sell the car refrence the site to its new owner. A registar gives credibility to the NSX and can enhance value possibly.

I'm hoping that when the time comes (next year I hope) that there will be a few cars from well known members of the NSX community up for sale

Many people here will be able to vouch for the car and owner. I won't mind paying a few $K more for a car like this.

I'm sure everyone I know can't wait for me to get it either, I'm driving them nuts with all my NSX talk, especially my fiancee

Tell me about it.. My wife immediately turns on the TV whenever I start talking about NSX.

Tiger, are you also on DTM Power?

nsxtasy, I will probably need your help next year when I'm buying an NSX. It's great to have a person as knowledgable as you in the area. Chances are I will have to buy out-of-state though since I haven't seen any Yellow NSXs for sale in IL or bordering states.

I think this is a super idea. Shopping for my NSX took me over a year and a half. Its hard to find a (pre T) low mileage car that has never been wrecked. I truly believe that a complied list like this could have save me a lot of time and expense. I only wish I had saved the lists of horrible cars that I had looked at to add it to this list.
