Noise from ashtray...

I know my ashtray make noise, I believe there is a small fan which circulates interior air for the climate control which is located behind the tray. It sounds like the motor needs to be lubricated. Has anyone been able to quiet the motor without taking the console apart. One more thing, the vinyl on my A pillars has places that look like little circles where it has come loose. Anyway to fix? I guess it comes with the age of the car. It's a '95 with 93,000. Car looks like new!

To silence the aspirator fan, I had to not just clean it but also adjust the motor bearing. Taking the console out isn't that bad; Briank has good instructions with pics.

My A pillar (just the driver's side) did the same thing you describe. I replaced it with a gauge pod :smile:

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll be taking out the console, so thank you very much for the pics on removal. I tried my shop vac as well as my air compressor and neither helped the noise.

I had the exact same experience. I then replaced the aspirator fan, and the noise disappeared.
