Every once in a while, maybe once a week, when I'm at a stop and I hit the gas, nothing happens for a second and then it starts going. Any idea what this problem is?

BTW, it happens after the car is fully warmed up.

It's a '91, 31,000 miles, completely stock.

Is there a simple way to check the throttle body, or should I just go to a mechanic?

Thanks.

You have to pull out the air filter and the coupler that goes to the throttle body. Open up the valve and will prbably see black residue on the inside. You can spray cleaner into the opening. Put everything back together and go out for a drive. If it gets better but still is not 100% you can try again or have a mechanic do a more thorough cleaning. Also, reset the ECU by removing the clock fuse so the computer will re-learn with a clean throttle body.
