According to the FAQ, the snap ring failure is limited to transmission numbers J4A4-1003542 through J4A4-1005978. I would ask for the transmission number and picture of the vehicle. I would also ask if it repaired preemptively since the mileage is very low (it hasn't happened...yet).

Good catch, and thanks for pointing that out. Just to clarify, a few months ago I spoke with someone who mentioned he would reach out to private buyers.

I wasn’t aware that he had listed the car on a website, and it seems he included the commission on top of the original asking price.

Since I haven’t heard from him recently, I decided to list the car myself on this website with the updated asking price of $90k.

Hi Casapao,

Thank you for pointing that out. I’m currently in Thailand but will be back in the States in a few days. I spoke with my father, and he believes the Snap Ring issue doesn’t apply to this car.

That said, I’ll personally check the transmission number once I return to California and update you. If it does fall within the affected range, it’s likely no preemptive repairs have been done.

My father currently has possession of the car at our home. There's no dealer or consignment agreement in place. A few months ago, I spoke with someone who said they would contact potential private buyers but haven’t received significant feedback or updates from him.
 
As an update to this post, I’ve removed the aftermarket GPS that my dad initially installed.

This has left two small screw holes on the side of the center panel, which I believe can be easily repaired with some minor cosmetic work (refer to photos below).

I do have a legit question- anyone can chime in to assist if you please-

@lennythellam, I believe you mentioned in another post that your father can no longer visit the US. (There is actually a duplicate "for sale" thread for this vehicle.) Will he be present for transfer of title, or has this been transferred to a family member, etc? Who is legally in possession of the car at this time?

I'm a little fuzzy on how this might be handled in absence of the owner.

He’s definitely a fan of his toys and loves a bit of adventure, but nothing compares to his love for this car. He’s parted with plenty of nice cars during tough times, but he’s always held onto this car like a knight clinging to his sword—nothing else quite cuts it!

Good question, thank you. I’m working through the details and plan to visit the DMV on Monday morning. My father is still the legal owner of the car.

He can endorse the title himself, but since he can’t travel, he’ll need to sign a Power of Attorney (POA) authorizing me to act on his behalf. This standard legal document grants me the authority to manage the sale.

To ensure legitimacy, the POA will need to be notarized by a reputable notary public or at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, both of which are widely accepted by U.S. authorities.

Once the POA is notarized and recognized by the DMV, I can submit it along with the signed title, bill of sale, and any other required documents to complete the sale and transfer of ownership.

I’ll keep you updated after I confirm the exact process with the DMV.
 
I would have guessed that this low mileage, one owner car would be worth much more than the asking price of $90K, Len. Have you considered selling it on Bring a Trailer? My guess is that it would easily sell for > $100K!

Thanks so much for your insights! If the target price isn't reached by then, I plan to list the NSX on Bring a Trailer to broaden my reach and aim for the price my father would like. I’d really appreciate any additional advice you might have.
