If anyone are intrested in hooking up traction in the quarter mile, I found that Discout Tires Direct are having a sale on these Nitto NT555R Drag radials the particular size I was looking at is the 225/50/16 for only $65 (regular price is $110 a tire)

Dswartz used them very successfuly on his famed 12.58 all motor run with these tires. from 12.84 without, a 0.3 improvemet.

I wonder how these sticky compound will handle in autocrosses, large tracks. I am definately intrested in a multipurpose tire for all types of track events/street.

I would think that a drag tire is designed specifically for that purpose, and is not as good in autocrosses or road racing as a conventional track tire.

I am definately intrested in a multipurpose tire for all types of track events/street.

Then consider one of the R compound tires along this spectrum:

Hoosier R3S03 - Kumho V700 Victoracer - Toyo RA1 - Yokohama A032R

Choose a tire to the left of this spectrum for the ultimate in dry traction and cornering; to the right for treadlife and wet traction and cost. All are track tires so all are very sticky, much stickier than street tires (and will wear quicker), but there are still variations among them along this spectrum.

Any of these is good for multiple kinds of track events. There are also tires built specifically for autocross, such as the Hoosier A3S03, which are designed to heat up quicker than their road race tire R3S03.

Nitto has a road race tire now with the same tread design as the 555 series but stiffer sidewall among other things.
