Last night I visited an old friend I had not seen for more than a year. The woman in question lives in a not to well-known neighbourhood so I was of course very watchful where I parked my car. When I left the girlfriend around 23:30 hours there where three you kids (around 18 I think) standing around my NSX, looking at me. When I disabled the alarm of the car they where like "Yeah, it is his car," and then started asking questions. They all knew exactly what a NSX is and were also familiar with some of its technical details so I answered all of their questions and told them a little more about the car. We (I) talked about how the NSX was developed, how it was build, about handling and balance, performance, modification and a lot more. I was definately talking to a very perceptive and interested audience (always nice). Actually, on occasion, other people walking people stopped to listen and ask additional questions before walking on. In the end, our talks last almost to 1 a.m. in the morning before I ended it and (finally) went home.
I was a bit surprised that these kids knew the NSX since the car is virtually unknown to most people where I live.
This was not the first time I have found that looks can be deceiving. I have experienced simply rude or even insulting comments in the past from well-dressed people who at first site one would expect to belong to the 'upper-class'. Or have such people display a lack of knowledge about the NSX or cars in general while pretending to know it all at the same time. In this case it was just the opposite. Three kids which one would be weary of at first site seeing them around your car turning out to be interested and perceptive youngsters.

I had a similar experience coming back from RA last weekend. 3 young kids in 'white rapper" attire were admiring my NSX. They were very complimentary and well informed about the car. The one kid was even aware of the correct hp and some of the subtle evolutionary changes over the years. I was quite impressed.
(Are "pimp" and "sick" good things?)

other people walking people

Thats funny, people walk dogs in my country ;)

Cool though that kids are admiring the car rather than the latter!! I enjoy showing little kids my car and sometimes I take them for a ride if I know the parents or the kid. My little brothers friends all want to go for rides whenever i goto my dads house. Same with all my sisters friends (and since she's only 1 1/2 years younger than me, it works out to MY advantage :))

cool story!

Yeh

Thats a cool story dude.

In many cases, it seems like the youngest people know the most. Sometimes it seems as if the young (maybe because of curiousity) are very knowledgeable. :D Especially late teens early twenties...mainly because I think Cars are a very influential part of people's lives at that age. I personallly am also near that age group, and many times surprise people with my vast car knowledge. Amazing what the Internet can do for you ahahah!

Much respect, great story. Also, PIMP is like the ultimate compliment..no longer a negative connotation.

Peace

That's a good story. I think that at a young age cars are influential. I would think that most aspiring "car nuts" have nothing but dreams of having such a car at a young age. Like myself when I was that age, I read A LOT of car magazines and would hop at the chance to talk to someone who actually owned one of those great cars you only saw in a magazine. It also helps you feel good of your accomplishments when you do get to talk to people about your NSX. Not to mention, you can help inspire those dreams of others to own one someday. My experiences with the NSX, so far, have been mostly respectful from others who love cars too. Just thought I would add my experience to this thread too.

I wonder how much the Gran Turismo video game series might have to do with their knowledge...certainly one of the more likely places younger folk might learn (and get excited) about the NSX.
