New wheels, new lug nuts?

I have some new Work wheels on order and was wondering if I will need special lug nuts, or will just the regular ones off my OEM wheels work? Work sell lugs on their site, but are they just for the bling factor, or are they really necessary?

I thought that with HRE's for example you had to use their lugs, but maybe I am wrong.

thanks

tuner...

You'll need "tuner lug nuts" for your WORK wheels. These are smaller diameter, 1.5 12mm, w/ a 60 deg. 'seat'. You can either get closed-end or open-end, spline, chrome or annodized, etc. They come w/ an adapter/key socket for installing/removing.

There are many choices to go w/:

- Gorilla
- Mcgards
- Muteki
- Kyokugen
- Zenke
- Spoon
- Skunk
- Buddy Club
- Work
- Volk
- etc...

I am shopping at this very moment for some as well...

OK, now that I have figured out what I need, I would like to take a little poll here if that is OK. I am not sure if that is cool in this section, but I will give it a try.

I have a silverstone NSX with a gunmetal wheel, should I get red, blue or just black lugs? The WORK lugs only come in red or blue, but I suppose I could find others in black if necessary.

Would a red or blue look horrible? I know a few are you are thinking ...... get whatever color you like. Well I just want to get opinions on whether or not I should get the colored nuts. If you all tell me it will not look good then I will probably listen, but if a few think the colored ones are fine then that's all the ambition I will need.

hmmm... depends on center cap, calipers, interior, tints, etc!

I have a '91 Berlina black/onyx NSX (no tints) w/ 17/17 Advan Model 5's in gunmetal & black calipers for now (planning to finish/paint them in annodized blue)...

I'm also debating what lug nuts to go w/... I'll probably get the black chrome, closed-end, tuner lug nuts. At one time I was considering the Mcgard chrome ones w/ a blue annodized 'ring' at the tip (not cap!).

Here were some of my ideas...

If you're gonna spend over $100 for wheel nuts, I'd forget the JDM ones (ie. Work, Rays/Volk, etc) and get the Mcgards spline w/ annodized ring/cap for $75'ish as they are the highest quality lugs nuts on the market, hands down. Light-weight Aluminum/Magnesium nuts get scratched, scraped, weathered, chipped, very-very easily from the elements, road crappe`, etc... even from non-impact wrench use!

Heck, I came across some platinum finish wheel nuts... looked like liquid mercury, might reconsider those LOL!

Before you go out to purchase a set of Tuner Lug Nuts, double check if your Works comes with the necessary set. I purchased a set of Volks lug nuts to later receive my Works wheel with another set.

Best Regards
Paul

Considering your car is silver and rims are gunmetal, I say the black lugs would look the best.
Now say you car was blue or red, then MAYBE the colored ones would enter the equation.
