Anyone ever driven one? I went to my local dealership and tested one today with the DSG auto tranny and I'm very impressed, the material and craftmanship is almost the same as the 01 Audi S4 I had.
The DSG tranny makes the engine much responsive. Personally I haven't driven the BMW SMG yet, Anyone driven both (SMG vs DSG)?
3 years ago when the my S4 was totaled I thought I would never buy another vw/audi. But I think I might get a 5 door GTI when it comes out this summer.

DSG seems like a very cool and unique technology that differentiates itself from other auto-mauals with two clutches that take turns pre-selecting the next gear, improving smoothness in shifting and decreasing upshift duration. If you have not already checked out how it differs from other auto-manuals (VW’s site does not offer much detail), there is a pretty good summary here: http://www.autozine.org/technical_school/gearbox/tech_gear_manual.htm#Twin-clutch

From what I've been told, it's much smoother than the BMW shifting. Too bad it doesn't come on the R32, yet.

You can't feel the DSG shifting, its like in a Toyota Prius. The BMW SMGI&II is a semi-auto tranny. The M6 for example hammers the gears in like there is no tomorrow. I remember a called song "break your neck" or something, I think he drove a SMGII M. :)
