New video of my modified Panavise camera mount

New video from this weekend.

The mod to the Panavise suction cup mount was better, however the problem is the rear window vibrates too much and I don't think there is a way around that.

I used iStabilize software to remove the jutter, it does a great job. The original video is very shaky. It would be nice to get a solid video pic w/o having to post process.

But I think I am going to need a mount that attaches somewhere other than the back window to get a clear picture. I hate to put in a harness bar just to mount the camera. I guess this is good enough for now.

Oh, btw... at least I am consistent. Datalogger showed 6 laps times all within 1/10 of a sec of each other. :)

This is the one I have.
It sticks very well. I actually got it to stick to the center speaker area below the window. It is one of the vacuum cups rather than just push on suction cups. You can tell if it is starting to lose its grip since it has a colored line on the pump button. It easily holds a minidv camera and the head on it is quite flexible as far as positioning goes.

My guess is that using some kind of vibration absorbing mount would be more effective than trying to mount the camera to some other rigid point on the car.

Now if only my camera actually worked in cars hehe
This thread has given me the motivation to try it again.

LOVE the video. Way to keep it in vtec yo!

What were your consistent times?

With a 180 lb passenger. My best for the day (solo) was a 1:19.5. Overlaying my laps on my Racelogic software I am faster in some parts on some laps and slower in others so I know the car has faster lap times in it. Now I just have to work on finding it in me. It has taken me 10+ track days to get below 1:20.0. I think the car has at least 1:17 laps in it.

I think I have found and fixed my camera shaking problem. The attachment point where it screws in on my "cheap" camera had some play in it and the plastic surrounding it was flexing. Mighty Putty took care of that. :)
Tested it today on the plane going down the runway and it seemed to be much, much better. Can't wait to try it in the car.

i'm pretty sure you're supposed to use the $40,000 vehicle as a test bed for the $40,000,000 vehicle, not the other way around.

LOL - exactly what I was thinking.
What kind of times are you running in the jet with a 10180lb passenger?

Nice times btw. A local guy did this - "My goal for this weekend was to take a shot at the TTC track record held by a man I have a great deal of respect for, Mr. John Slinkard of Nebraska. His record lap is a 1:20.60. Below is a link to in-car video of my 3rd and 4th lap of the day... a 1:19.90 and 1:19.80 respectively." - in a S2000. I know you can beat this by two seconds.

Go Jim!!!

Gross Take Off weight for our plane (CRJ900) with 12,000 lbs of fuel, and 76 passengers and cargo is around 74,000 lbs. I have timed it and it takes approximately 30 seconds from thrust lever advanced to rotation at approximately 140 kts (161 mph). So, 0-160 in 30 sec.

I have seen Arron's video and was there that day. He actually ran a fast lap of 1:17 and change. He is very, very fast in that S2000. Actually, much faster than ANY S2000 I have seen. I will be very, very happy if I can break 1:18 at Putnam. I have a three day event there next weekend with KYPCA, it will probably be my last time at Putnam (if Bluegrass actually opens). So, my goal is to get into 1:17s.

Damn, they're going to have to retire your # at Putnam. :frown:
Can't wait to go up to Bluegrass. I am tired of the hype and just want to see it. It will be the only track within a 2.5 hour drive.

Putnam and Mid Ohio are 2-1/2 hrs from my driveway. Putnam should be the same or maybe even slightly less for you.

KYPCA Putnam event next weekend closes registration tonight. There are still spots open ($300 for Sat & Sun).
