New updated water pump vs. original old water pump, please help.

hi, after removing the old water pump, the old water pump is not the same as the newer brand new I just bought (new cover and grommet) updated version with the I suppose "weep hole". will it still fit? also, what is the purpose of the new water pump weep tube on the bottom left or just leave it alone? Is there a coolant hose that connect to that? any info would help. thanks

Honda stopped making the old version that's why they sell the new pumps with the new cover as it has the weep hole port with rubber bushing
it will fit 100% 1991-2005 all will fit.

Hi, summersky1984.

There was a problem with the combination of old design WP and TB lower cover and because of this, Honda changed the design for later models.

Because it's a WP, the coolant is always in contact with the high speed rotational shaft so it's quite normal to see tiny amount of coolant coming out of the weep hole. The original design was meant to let this seeped coolant out of the TB lower cover but with the heat and age, the cover could get warped and despite the tiny o-ring at the old design weep hole, the coolant would drip inside the cover and in fact, onto the TB. Not good......

So, Honda changed the design and made weep tube rather than the hole as in your photo.


In US/UK, it's cheaper to order the three parts (WP, TB lower cover, small grommet) as a set using the parts no. 19200-PR7-305 and from what you wrote, I believe you bought this.

In Japan, it's cheaper to buy these three separately.

You will set the grommet on the TB lower cover and when you install it over the TB and WP, the tube will stick out from the grommet and thus, any seeped coolant will be forced outside of TB lower cover keeping the TB free from any coolant. It's the one close to the left edge of the photo.

As shawn mentioned, it's compatible for all year models, country spec, MT/AT, etc.
