We're excited to release several new products we have been working on for some time. PHOTOS BELOW!

ScienceofSpeed Trunk Lid Struts
http://www.scienceofspeed.com/produ...nce_products/NSX/ScienceofSpeed/trunk_struts/
These new trunk struts are direct replacements for the factory trunk struts. We manufacture our struts from custom USA built full stainless steel gas springs used in aerospace applications. Custom rod ends specific to the unique NSX application have also been manufactured to allow the gas springs to be fitted with out any modification to the car. We include new ball studs with our gas springs for ease of install. Installation is simple and should take less than 10 minutes per side. Trunk Strut Kits begin shipping this Monday and we're offer an introductory special (please see following post).

ScienceofSpeed Oil Cooler System
http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/engine_performance_products/NSX/ScienceofSpeed/oil_cooler/
We've been working on an oil cooler system for several years that allows ease of installation and reliable consistent performance. The NSX oiling system uses a water-cooled oil cooler that is adequate for stock cars. Higher performance engines and cars used heavily at the track frequently see oil temperatures exceeding 240-250 degrees F. At these temperatures, oil thins reducing lubricity, can begin to break down, and can form caustic by-products. This external oil system reduces oil temperatures by way of an air cooled heat exchanger with an external fan that is regulated by a thermo switch that only allows the system to cool if temperatures exceed 175 degrees F. The unique placement shields the heat exchanger from rocks and debris and allows minimal hose lengths for best performance.

We recently tested the new oil cooler system on our test car producing more than 530 rear wheel horsepower. The car was loaded heavily for extended periods of time. The oil temperatures were monitored with a STACK display. The oil temperatures never exceeded 210 degrees. Systems begin shipping on Friday May 18th and we're offering an introductory sale (please see following post).

The system is also compatible with our Accusump Oil Accumulator System. We have recently updated our 3 quart system to include custom brackets for easier installation (shown in photos). You can find more information about our 2 and 3-qt systems available here:

Custom Fit Outdoor Car Cover for NSX
http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/exterior_performance_products/NSX/custom_car_cover/outdoor/
Using the same patterns as our Satin Stretch car covers designed for the NSX, we are now introducing a premium outdoor rated car cover for the NSX. This cover features three layers of protection for the NSX parked out doors. The cover features the same fleece inner liner as the Satin Stretch car cover with the addition of an inner breathable layer and external heavy duty water and UV resistant fabric. This is not a generic universal cover. The cover is fitted specifically for the NSX following each of its unique contours. We were caught off guard by demand and have already sold out on our first batch before we even posted any details, so we appreciate your patience as we fill our orders over the next 2 weeks.

Chris, do you have before after temperature readings with the oil cooler?

How many actual degrees did it cool at the track on cars that have a tendency to overheat? What mix of water did you have in the radiator when the test was run? Ambient temperature?

I am assuming you ran such tests with the 3 qts Accusump? TIA.

hi Hrant --

Yes, the vehicle we used in the production testing was equiped with the 3-qt Accusump and oil cooler system.

During testing, we observed that the oil cooler reduced temps by more than 20 degrees peak while on dyno and 14 degrees while on street in the summer (106 deg F ambient, 158 deg F surface). Also important is that the variances in oil temp between no load idle conditions and high load high RPM conditions were reduced by about 30% making the oil viscosity much more consistent. Here are some testing numbers.

air temp: 106 F
road temp: 158 F
ScienceofSpeed Oil Cooler installed

test no. RPM (10 sec cycles) temp pressure throttle

1 4000-6000 212 F 98 psi WOT
2 4000-6000 215 F 98 psi WOT
3 4000-6000 213 F 98 psi WOT

4 6000-8100 217 F 99 psi WOT
5 6000-8100 214 F 98 psi WOT
6 6000-8100 218 F 99 psi WOT

7 1050 199 F 32 psi idle (15 mins)
8 1050 197 F 32 psi idle (20 mins)
9 1050 197 F 31 psi idle (30 mins)
