New owner of a stock 93 blk/blk in Toronto

Just wanted to inform everyone that I have added another car to the Toronto scene. Thanks to you (especially BioBanker, Swbatte, Loosenut, Brandonson, Rak) and to Prime for giving me sound advice on finding a quality car. I found myself now, a proud owner of a well kept, stock 93 blk/blk. I imported the car from Columbus Ohio. Bought her from another Prime member (Rak) who owned the car since 97 and took beautiful care of her. I couldn't be happier.

I took deliver this Thursday and fortunate for the weather, I was able to drive her home (a beautiful drive by the way) without much problem (missed yesterday's snow storm). Took her for a fill-up at a local station (Shell @ Bayview/Sheppard) and ran into another new owner (98 blk - he wasn't driving it at the time) just took deliver on the same day. We had a good chat and hope to meet up with some of the members this season. This is what I like about NSX ownership, you find friends/network just by driving the same car.

I haven't taken any pictures and I wanted to give her a good clean before doing so. Here are two pictures from Rak before I bought the car.

Thanks again, and I look forward meeting some of you this season.

Wow - you were lucky with your timing. Great to hear that you had a wonderful drive home. We all did that drive last fall home from XPO - it can be a grinder!

Car looks nice - looking forward to seeing it in person.

Amazing that you ran into another NSX day 1. Now join the club, sign up for Est Fest, and get ready for an amazing summer!

Congrats, and welcome aboard...the 98 black owner I'm guessing would be Tim, he just imported his from the US as well.

Well the NSX ownership in Ontario grows again...Please joint the NSX Club of Canada and come to Est Fest, we can help with RIV inspection etc.

Bram

Pics there look good. Can't wait to see more, and of course see the car!
As others have already said, join up with us in the club. Great bunch of people!

PS: If you don't already have some....
Head over to Costco and buy the 20 pack of yellow micro fiber cloths.
With a black car, you're going to want to carry a bunch of them with
you where ever you go. :-)

Hi Owen

Tim here, glad you posted, because after I left you at the Shell station I realized I forgot to ask you your name.

That was a coincidental encounter for sure.

As I mentioned I had just taken delivery of my NSX earlier that day, had just finished wiping her down, installed the cover and thought that I would walk down the street for some Japanese to celebrate, when I spotted your car walking home.

My first thought and as I mentioned to you, What the H**L are you doing driving your NSX today? as it turns out, that would have been your last opportunity prior to the snow hitting.

My NSX being a 1998 is not exempt from the RIV inspection. I don't expect it to be a problem, just a little inconvienence moving it around.

Thanks to some responses, the Canadian NSX club members are really stepping up to assist. I never knew there was such a strong NSX community here when I decided to buy my NSX, what a bonus.

I'm in for ESTFEST, really looking forward to it, it'll be great. I'm going to bring my RC model to race around the parking lot too. Shouldn't be a probelm drinking and driving with those(lol)

Now that is nonsense!

Everyone knows that Black cars stay in the garage! But just sitting there they still find a way to get dirty.

Now get back on Prime NSXs forsale and find a yellow one. Those dont show dirt. Leave the slow black one in the garage and drive the much faster and always clean yellow one.

I actually did the smart thing and shipped my car with TFX International as I didn't want to take any chances in the winter. As BioBanker was saying, it would be a grind to drive home in less than tip top condition not to mention chances of new stone chip, I just can't do that to her.

The drive that I mentioned was from my mechanic in Mississauga, who did the oil change, safety, and drive clean for me. This works out perfect on Thursday. Yes, very lucky indeed.

As to colour, black is indeed a classic and is just smooth to look at. I am not knocking other colours, but I just can't see myself in any other colour but black. My alternate colour would have been Sebring silver, but black is just silky smooth. I don't mind her slower than others, because she just looks, drives, and sounds perfect. I will leave the tuning and tracking to some of you. I like her just the way she is. I will stay behind the pack when we go for drives this summer, no problem there. Haha!!

Yes, I have seen those micro fibre towels and chamois. Good prices, so I will pick some up this week. Although I am considering to use Picus (prime member - Kevin Hamill) to get some proper work done. Is he worth the money? I know some of you have used him before. I am thinking the first time I would invest in the multi-step compounding work, which Picus has quoted on his site (gtadetail.com) at $450. Seems high, but if the work is worth it, then I am okay to invest.

Thanks.

Congrats from Eastern Ontario on your new purchase! Glad to see its the correct colour as well!

If you stay on Prime for any significant amount of time, your car will not stay stock for very long. I think I lasted 6 hrs before I swapped the shiftknob...

See you at EstFest!

I love to have some company at the back of the pack.

The car looks sharp. Congrats!

The mod bug will get you. I got mine last July. I am shopping for a set of rims. I hope I would stop there. haha

yep - once youre around a bunch of NSXs you will without doubt see things that you will like more on other cars than whats on a stock car.

Stock cars are a good "platform" because theyre very easy to improve upon.

With my 252 galloping horses, I'm surly the follower of the pack.
Lesson learned from last season.

Ok, maybe there were more than a few us us looking for a compass that day.
:-)

How many more days till we can put insurance on these fine toys again?
Man! I hate winter!

Your car looks pretty clean... welcome to 'team-black'... LOL

Why would I need to wash my car, its under a cover all the time

Welcome aboard Tim + Owen! Looking forward to meeting you guys once we're past this crappy winter.

BTW, everyone knows that Red is the fastest... yellow is for posers.

Hehehe, thanks to Jamie, we lost a whole bunch of people before the first pit stop ;) I may be joining my friend Tom in his CGT this year though, so it'll be safe to follow the silver CGT... just avoid the black one! :-)

I've used Kevin, and I highly recommend his services. Unless your paint is in horrible shape, you probably don't need the full multi-step compounding, in which case you may be able to save some money with a straight up polish.

Thanks for the feedback. Kevin came by today and spent 7-8 hours with my car. His cost was very reasonable for the amount of time he spent and quality of work. I was at work all day, so he took pictures for me and he will be posting them on his site later.

Can't wait til spring to show off the shine

J2D,
congrats on the purchase, if I didn't buy my '97 bl/bl. that car would be in my garage right now.

Nice purchase, car looks well cared for, now go get that beauty a set of rims and really make her look good!

Aaron

Coincidentally, my 98 Blk/Camel is #52 as well. When I saw your post for a Westfest in Kelowna in May I was tempted, I have a brother on Kelowna and look for any reason I can find to visit. ActuallY I have been to those car shows on the May 24 weekend and there great.

But Estfest is the same weekend sorry..

I'm sure I'll find an opportunity to get out west again (hopefully with my NSX ) and I'll be sure to look you up.

Tim
