I finally got my NSX this last Thanksgiving. I got it from Cardiff Classics -an Automatic Deep green 1994 with 42000 miles or so on it. But do not have any history on its maintenance. Does anyone out there have any advice regarding Gold coast Acura in Ventura? They say they have a guy named NOrman that is the resident expert. Any feed back? I just love the car!!! Thanks Don

Welcome!

There are quite a few shops around the SoCal area, just do a search in this forum for repair shop, maintenance..etc. Depend on where you live, you can choose to go to any one of them.

I've heard good things about Norman@Ventura Acura, but have not actually gone there as it's abit far from where I am. Maybe others here cna provide you with more detailed info.

PM ANYTIME on this forum. He is in the Ventura area and knows all of the Acura Dealers out that way. Good luck.

Hey,

Cool.. I drove by there (cardiff classics) on Friday the day after thanksgiving and saw a green NSX out front with the blinkers on. Perhaps you had just taken a test drive. It was around 1 to 3pm I think.

Anyway, welcome to the group!

Get a CARFAX. It will tell you what cities it was registered in. Call the local Acura dealers in that area with the VIN and they will tell you if they ever worked on the car and what they did. Most will even fax you some copies. May save you from some maintenance not yet needed.

I just wanted to tell all about the service I am getting at Gold coast acura in Ventura. The guy, Norman, the local pro there, is on top of anything there is to be checked. Bear in mind that I have no background on the car's service history at all.. He said that to start he suggested a cheap safety check which will outline any obvious problems ($85) After a couple of hours I get a call that the timing belt has never been changed-It is a 94 automatic- He also said to change the water pump and do a 45000 mile full-on valve adjust and check up. OK I say and the estimated cost is about 2 big ones. He also says change/flush the tranny as the fluid smells burned ( I had already realized that). Anyway He seems to be real competent/honest and just what I need to keep my car in good shape. If he does not have it ready for me by friday night, There will be a lot of bitching going on though. I will keep you all informed. Don

Well as hoped, the folks at Gold Coast Ventura came thru with flying colors on my first service. They changed the fluid and filter in the tranny, and radiator, put in a new timing belt, fixed some rubber plugs that were leaking in the engine, Did the 45000 mi complete service,(adjust valves check brakes etc) even fixed a loose handle on the shifter and quieted down a noisy antenae lift mechanism. This was done for the agreed price of $2000 plus tax. To be honest I do not see a whole lot of difference in the performance or sound of the car but there was not much wrong going in either. I at least have peice of mind regarding where the maintenance is at and where it is going. I give the dealership a score of 9 out of 10. Norman the mechanic, gets a 10. I would have no fear to go back to them for anything. Contact me if you have any questions . Don

Norman put a clutch in my car last year and gave it a once over as i had just got it ...he definatly is "the MAN" up here on the coast..glad he took good care of you..he came highly recommended by ANYTIME
