Well I finally bought an NSX after 2 months of daily and nightly looking. 2004 BLK/BLK with 6,100 miles and completely stock. My preference at this time as this is my first NSX. There are some really great cars out there as well as dogs, but at the right price every car can be desireable. This one looks like a new car as there are hardly any chips.

Drove it from DC to NY on sat, great fun. I am concerned about the salt residue that was on the roads at that time. The road was dry for the most part but there is a little white powder residue on the car. The body is one thing and easy to wash off, the underside is of greater concern. I don't want to put it through a car wash with a neutralizer as I always hand wash and driving back will only get it salty again. I plan on putting her into hibernation for the winter but want to do the prep while there are still some above freezing days. Is there a product that you can spray on and hose off that will eliminate the raod salt?

Another question that the dealer and the previous owner couldn't anwer is why some of the tools were missing. When I looked in the owner's manual, everything for a tire change that was identified was there but a few of the slots are empty. I have posted a pic so someone can tell me what is missing.

The owner removed a tire to have some scratches on a tire fixed but said he put everything back and can't remember if there were empty slots or not.

However I would like to praise the dealer, American Service Center in Arlington, VA for their accurrate description of the car, acceppting a fair offer $61,500 OTD, quick service and willingness to make everything right, like replacing or paying for any tools that are missing. They are exclusively a preowned Mercedes dealer so anyone looking for one, I would recommend them, see Mohamed.

Attached are a few pics of the car. One of the pics shows the MR2 that the NSX is replacing, soon to be shipped to its new owner.

I would like to thank everyone who has given me advice and help in my search especially our local Guru, Larry B. I look forward to a long membership in this club. I owned the MR2 for 14.5 years and the car before that for 10 years. I tend to keep my toys a long time. Thanks again!

PS
In my search I also came across a very sweet red/tan 2004 in Sarasota, FL with 10,000 mi I would have bought if it was closer. The car has a lot of very tastefull mods and 2 sets of wheels. The owner sent me a lot of photos and details and after many discussions I beleive this to be also a great car if you like the mods.

That is a beautiful and absolutely perfect car!! Excellent price, too!

Congrats!!

Congrats...and welcome.

Yes, try to wash the car's underside at a DIY place. Make sure it's above freezing:wink: Before you put er' into storage, be sure to remove as much moisture as possible from the car. Enclosed garages + moisture is not a good thing.

Get a battery tender/trickle charger.

This is the one you want:

Search around, they go for as little as $25.00.

Good luck.

congrats ! you got a great deal on the car. you may want to go detailingdynamics.com to detail the car for the winter.

a slight haul from where you are but they do a fantastic job detailing the car.

Is there a benefit to the self service wash places over my own driveway if I were to use a soap spray under the car?

I noticed in the owner's manual you are not supposed to charge the battery in the car. Is the tender OK since it gives a tricle charge. I bought one for my MR2 to charge the Optima red top after it died completely and after 3 weeks on it the battery came back to almost new. Is this the same product? I was planning on getting an Optima again and that same charger but was spooked by the not to charge the battery in the car warning in the manual. Maybe they are refering to the fast type chargers only?

Anyone know what I am missing from the tool kit? And can I get it from Acura?

Thanks,

Tytus

I would not be too concerned about using a battery tender while the battery is in the car.....I am away for months at a time and have not experienced a problem yet....BTW...great deal you got there!!! Not sure what tool is missing...but mine was missing the air comp. when I bought it.
Congrats!!!....Ok went and looked at my tool kit and noticed it is different than yours (mine is an '03) I cannot tell what you are missing but I noticed my screwdriver was not there so I looked under the styrofoam tray and there it was so...take a look underneath!

Welcome. Please Join our national club nsxca and check in from time to time here for upcoming club events like the winter dinner 1/19/08.

Welcome to Prime, NSX Ownership, NE Region, and one of many in Westchester. We do try to be active and during the "season" do many "runs", as Doc John says, be sure to join the NSXCA, contact Peter Mills for info. We will be having our annual dinner on 1/19 and as many on this board know, my "got to attend" event each year is "Kid's Day" at the Glen, typically the 3rd week in July. This is the best thing that you can do for yourself and kid's who are stricken with cancer to put a smile on everyone's face by sharing what you will certainly learn to love in a very short time. We are also fortunate to have a few members who are "open track qualified" who have been willing to take those of us who are not for "hot laps" around the Glen, certainly a real treat. I twisted a few arms this year and while they may have made the committment reluctantly, they saw the wisdom and will return voluntarily this year, and on their own, I'm sure convince others to come. I hope that we have over 20 cars in 08, and I'm hopeful that my assistant (no, not my wife, but my work assistant) will once again beat this disease into remission and join me this coming July. We have a great group here in the NE and welcome you!!!

I have an 05 and it is "missing" the exact same tools. I think that is how the car same in later years and nothing is actually missing. Congrats on the car. Looks very nice.

Congrats, Bro. Look forward to seeing you around. Stop by and say hi sometime. By the way, that's a sick price. It would make you money if you wholesaled it.

Thanks everyone for the positive acalades. I will join NSXCA and hope to meet everyone at the dinner as well as am looking forward to the July event.

I did check on the tool kit with the Acura dealer OEM parts list in the Wiki section and all the parts listed are acounted for, whew. Why are there additional cutouts in the foam and what are they for? I did put a set of pliars into the pliar cutout, never know when you may need it, I am curious about the other cutouts though.

Even though I love to ski I am hoping for a short winter so I can start driving.

BTW does anyone have experience with the Acura extended service contract? There was a copy of the agreement from the original owner in the glove box. He hadn't turned it in for a refund of the unused portion, expiration May 2011 and he paid $2,650 for it. Says right in the document that it cannot be transfered to a dealer buying his car or the dealer's customer, me. But he can request a prorated refund. Is there anyway that can be transfered to me? Can he still get his refund? Could be worth about $1,300. The car hasn't been registered yet as I am awaiting paperwork from the dealer. Mike, any thoughts?

Thanks,

Tytus
