Just wanted to introduce myself to the community.

Name is Jeff
Age is 23 turning 24 (Jan. 5th)
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Occupation: Auto Wrecker, Auto Repair, Auto Sales

Decided to give myself a nice x-mas and b-day present and bought a 91 NSX from a cool guy in Santa Monica, CA. Picked up the car last night and drove it back to its new home in Vegas. I'm the third owner of the car. The second owner really packed the miles on it (161k) but took EXTREMELY good care of it. He has maintance record and receipt for everything! He swapped in a 6-speed tranny and the original motor runs like a champ. If you look at the vehicles (pictures pending) and drive it, you will never guess it has 161k miles. The interior is perfect, the leather is soft with very little cracks on the driver's seat. The owner also installed the alpine navigation unit, a pioneer dvd headunit, 97 NSX 17" and 16" rims. Everything is in perfect working order.

One question I have (for now)... the owner put larger front tires (225,/50zr16) to correct the understeer? But due to the size, the TCS has to be turned off in order to drive the car and it rubs on the fender well when doing full turns. I want to put the original size front tires on but I need to know what the OEM size is. If someone could help me, it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Sounds like despite the mileage you've found the right car for you. Welcome to Prime--loads of info here. Be sure to visit the FAQ.

Regarding your tires/wheels I'm not sure why anyone would put on the incorect sizes to try to dial out understeer on the NSX. The NSX naturally understeers but very little--not enough to try and "correct." The NSXs handling is very neutral and balanced and the understeer is not a problem...makes me think there was some sort of damage to the car creating more understeer than normal...if it's indeed understeering.

And with 225/50/16 yes, you will rub badly. The correct tire sizes for the 16/17 setup are 215/45-16 and 245/40-17. I recommend the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 for normal all-season driving. With the tire size combo/brands you probably have right now your NSX is handling nowhere near it's capability. With the proper sizes and good tires like the GS-D3s and you'll feel a world of difference.

Per FAQ:
1994-1997 Front 215/45ZR16 - diameter 23.6 inches - 854 rev per mile
1994-1997 Rear 245/40ZR17 - diameter 24.7 inches - 816 rev per mile

205/45/16 and 245/40/17 however in most tire brands should work fine with TCS and ABS.

oooops...edited.

Maybe I should look in the FAQ  typo...

Yes, 205 will work fine as will 255 in the rear. The common practice is to avoid a stagger of more than 40mm front/rear on the NSX.

Welcome to the group, I just got mine this week as well, and just joined even though I have browsed for a while...

2004 Silverstone/Onyx...

Welcome Jeff & congrats on your NSX. Always nice to add another NSX to Las Vegas...=)

I too got an NSX for Christmas, and have been waiting for the right time to detail her & take her out for a photo shoot. If you want to meet a couple fellow Las Vegas NSX owners, hit me up. I personally don't know much about the car, I'm still learning, but I've got an awesome NSX tech right here in Vegas. So if you need some work done, I'd be happy to pass on his information.

And I think there's a few guys out here putting a little NSX club together. Maybe you can check it out. A friend of mine & I are going to try to make their next meet, I think it's early Jan. You can check out the southwest section of this forum.

Levi,

Hey, we should get together, I would love to meet other NSX owners in Vegas. This is my first NSX as well so I'm not completely familiar with it. When is this NSX club going to meet? Sounds like fun, hopefully it'll fit with my work schedule. Hit me up so we can set something up.

We need pics? Whats a 91 with 160k miles going for now-a-days? PM ME if youd like:wink:

Right on, maybe after the holidays, when things return to normal, we can meet up at my buddies shop & stare at each other's NSX's...=)

I'm pretty much free in the evenings & weekends, and I think that meet in Las Vegas is on a Saturday. I'll try to find that thread & send you a link.

Man, I can't imagine what kind of damage I could have done if I bought an NSX at 23. I'm a much calmer 32 now, so most of the madness has already left me...=)

That's too cool Nik. I'm sure I personally was way too irresponsible at 24 to own one, but I sure would've loved one then. Although, I am more than grateful for being able to get one now...=)

Welcome, nice car to boot!!! You definitely stole that one at only 20k. I will be a member AND driver when I get a deal like that thrown my way. Enjoy that 6 speed!

Wow, that looks like a great find! 6 speed, and several nice upgrades. And the few flaws appear to be minor, easy fixes.

Just curious, did you have a PPI done before finalizing the deal, or have a knowledgeable person see the car beforehand?
