Past few months I've been reading articles about the new NSX and Lotus Elan. My thoughts of the Lotus Elan share a closer representation to what a next generation NSX would be or should be. Compared /Evolved from 02+ NSX, engine, styling, and price.

Check it out.

"Lotus is fielding a late-2013 transverse-V6 car called the Elan as a rival for the 911 Carrera and Carrera S. It will run a 4.0-liter supercharged direct-injection version of the existing Evora engine, for 400HP(base) and 470HP(R)"

while the Toyota Camry engine is nice in its power output and sound, it is not very high revving like the current NSX. who knows what the new one will be like. having driven the GT-R, high revs aren't required for fun with the quick shifting dual clutch automatics, though. i am not sold on either car and would rather get a GT-R over both, but the NSX brings some new technology to the table which i am more interested in than a pretty shell with a supercharged Camry engine.

The rev limit for the Elan is 7800rpm which not bad for a supercharged engine. I'd driven the GT-R; didn't have good drivers feed back. To much computer control for me, but I haven't driven the 2012 GT-R yet. I'm not sold on any of the 3, new NSX, Lotus Elan or GT-R.

And the nsx has a legend motor.

All the new Lotus super cars, including high end Esprit, Elan, & low end Elise that's due to come out, all have better lines not to mention power, than the next NSX will have.
My choice would be the Elan over the NSX if the price is neck to neck.

BTW this topic should belong in the second gen column.

The car looks really hot. That's the part Lotus often gets right.

It's the rest of the car that Lotus fails on IMO.

I'd have to look under the car on a lift, and under the dash to see how it is made before I got too excited about buying one.

To the common person you can not tell the difference between the élan, Elise or esprit. I guess that's good for the Elise buyers
