New NSX, here in 2007, $100K, 5.0L V10, 500HP, AWD

I agree. That is probably one of the sweetest cars coming out. MR WITH all of the NSX's GT elements (ac, heated seats, navi...cupholders perhaps :D) My buddy helped design the Le Mans concept car and he got to sit in an early prototype (not Le mans concept, but the actual R8 prototype).

The exterior will be very, very similar to the concept, but the interior details will be very different (layout is similar, but not the toggle switches and etc.).

There was also talk of different levels of the R8..gallardo's v10 or a tuned up RS4 motor.

If they truly release this car with a competetive 911 pricing, I'd probably consider this as the next bang for buck (compared to the z06 and ford gt)

I am so looking forward to this car. It has been my dreamcar since the day it hit the shows. I hope the NSX competes, because if it doesn't, it'll be a 2 and out for the NSX... cuz this R8 is amazingly beautiful.

competitive market-segment!

... Audi R8

Overall profile & stance is reminescent of a watered-down Veyron, some facets of the Gallardo, and swooping-roofline w/ widened rear-quarters ala' Bentley Conti GT coupe...

Oh yea... incorpation of the new trademark Audi grill!

Though, I don't see any Beetle innit, but VW's presence is being represented w/ the aggresively-raked windshield & perception of high-cockpit stance...

Looks like a TT crossed with a Cylon. And that ain't right.

If I had the money to buy that car, I'd find a way to get more and buy a Gallardo. If couldn't get more money, I wouldn't buy the R8. That thing is jacked.

not bad...buy it over a 911:biggrin:

Ninous & Dtrigg,

I’m sure Russ titled this topic the way that he did because one could say the R8 embodies what a successor to the NSX would - at least based on the the specs (2-seats, mid-engine, aluminum chassis, price). Current rumors of the NSX replacement suggest it will have a V10 engine and AWD, like the R8 as well. :)

Lots of goodies on the car but I am not feeling the style....looks like a beefed up TT.

Weight?...

Edit... Found it!
The outer skin of the body and various add-on parts are of mixed weight-saving construction, using aluminium and carbon-fibre reinforced plastics. This is a precondition for the car's low gross weight of only 1,530 kilograms and therefore for its outstandingly good power-to-weight ratio of only 2.5 kg/bhp

It does look like a baby Veyron...

Honda are definetly going to have to put their heads together to produce "the next NSX will be as groundbreaking as the first in '91" if this is some of their competition!

Oh I get it now, thanks for clearing that up.

Wasn't that the car in IROBOT?

My OTHER buddy (Julian) designed the concept car seen in I-Robot. This is how it works. Audi knew that they were going to come out with the Le Mans concept.

I-Robot contacted Audi to come up with concept, much the same way Minority Report did with Lexus. Killing two birds with one stone, Audi's marketing dept. told the designers, hey since we'll be featured in I-Robot, come up with a design that mimics the Le Mans."

Basicaly, I-Robot boosted interest in the Le Mans concept. So in other words, Le Mans concept came out first, kept it a secret. I-Robot concept showed up on screen, people went nuts and then Audi announced the Le Mans concept.

I like it. I think it will be a great car. The longer Honda waits to release the next gen NSX, the more competition there will be.
