The all-new NSX makes its debut race this season. Newly designed headlights and overhead air intake are the only noticeable features of the car, as heavy bodywork modifications ruin any other visible changes. The screaming VTEC makes it the second loudest car here after the McLaren F1 of team Yellow Corn and only just louder then the Diablo of team Nomad. Utilizing a 3.5L Honda engine, tweaked to 600 or so bhp, they seem to be utilizing experience gained from the Formula 1 series where upwards of 800bhp is squeezed from 3.0L normally aspirated engines.

Hmm... 3.5 L Vtec engine... It sounds to me like that is probably the next NSX engine.. of course, it is making 600HP, I could live with that

Too bad we will never see this engine hit mass prodution. Dont forget about Japan's 280hp restriction for street legal production.

But the current NsX is 290 hp.....yes ?

290 is what is rated in the U.S.
In Japan, there is a "gentleman's" agreement in the auto industry to "state" maximum horsepower number of 280hp(think horsepower cap) even though the car is more powerful. The 2002 Type-R NSX probably has at least 10-20hp more than the normal 3.2L NSXs.

It is actually 280ps, not 280bhp.

I think the new NSX needs more than that! It needs to at least start matching horsepower numbers of much cheaper cars like the Z06 which puts out 405bhp. Sure the NSX weighs a little lighter, however, it is also a lot more expensive and the price should reflect some more power! Toyota is also coming out with a "NSX killer", and I don't think 350-400bhp is going to cut it.
