wonder how much power/energy is required?

My dad was the project head of a planned Maglev link by 'then' AEG-Westinghouse (now Siemans) connecting Mecca to Medina in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the late '80s. This was a pet-project of a governing Prince of the Kingdom.

Gulf War (Operations Desert Shield & Desert Storm) broke-out in '90-'91, exhausting the Saudi treasury. The project got shelved... :frown:
