I finally got the CF hood on her. Also the CF wing. Some powdercoated black wheels. I'm waiting on the CF side vents now also (hopefully thursday!)

How's it look? The hood was only $600 something including shipping from Erebuni. Awesome piece for the price. The louvres are removeable, which I was going to do, but once I put it on I like them. :-D

Also, I think I'm going to keep the bodykit black, and actually have it painted with the same powdercoat look as the wheels. Same for the roof, I like the satin powdercoat look so I'm thinking of getting that done also.

How's the fitment of the hood? It looks like an oem fit in the picture

Yep, directly from them! Ordered it Thursday, got it today!

$564 + shipping.

The louvres are removeable, but it would leave small holes on the sides of the scoops. You can likely special order it from them without that, and also without the washer nozzle holes.

It fit *perfect*

I didn't even have to mess around with the alignment before tightening the screws to the hinges. It just fit perfect.

I did have to take the hood support rod off, and also move the fuse box down to fit the scoops. Basically I reused the lower mounting point on the car (where the bottom of the fusebox was bolted to) and connected the uppermost hole on the fusebox to it. So that relocated it down enough for a perfect fit.

Here's a larger pic of the fitment. Linked for size.

I would paint it all white except the roof (which I would leave black) and the rims (which I would have stripped and polished).

The "satin powdercoat" you're considering for the roof will make the car look like you could only afford to have the body shop put primer on it but you couldn't afford to have them paint it. If you're going for a "ghetto" look, that would be one way to go about it...

so the hood comes in gelcoat black? looks really great! just as the JGTC one that science of speed sells. I had a friend who bought a wing for his 3000GT a comando wing and the fitment was a pain in the asss as the holes where not made in the right place. I guess that's not the case with this hood. I will definitely get one.

you bought the CF hood. there is a fiberglass one that's exactly the same. I am going with the fiberglass cuz I want to paint it to match my car. Ur car looks like the nsx-r. Can you show us more pics of the spoiler?

I don't have too many of the wing up close yet, hadn't really thought of taking those. The grain of the CF on both the hood and the wing match perfectly, even though they were purchased from different places.

They also offer a CF hood without the vents, OEM style but with the CF grain. That one is $500.

Is the carbon fiber hood harder then the fiberglass hood to paint correctly to match the aluminum panels?

No. If you're planning to paint it, then it doesn't really matter which you get. CF hoods are covered in resin which can easily be sanded and painted, just like fiberglass.

This is with no real authority but I've heard that paint does not finish so well on CF relative to FG - can't remember the reason exactly but perhaps one of our paint experts can comment further - pbassjo?

Not sure why? I've painted over many a CF piece. Wetsand, primer, paint. Of course...I've never kept a car longer than about 6 months....so I never get to see what happens in the long term.

Very nicely done.

The Black Kit isn't my cup of tea, but I say leave the hood and wing unpainted, and black rims looks pretty good, even though I prefer gunmetal.

I say your next mod should be the JGTC Fixed headlight conversion and either smoke the headlight covers dark grey, or paint the headlight housing black.

How is the texture of the hood? Is the hood flat/straight or does it have a "wavy" effect? I've had/heard/seen problems with fitment and quality issues with Erebuni products, so I'm asking just to make sure.

Any problems you noticed in the few days you've had it on?

Thanks

Wow, I wish I would have never read this thread. I just paid over $700 for that hood used, if it is the same as Taitec. And mine is not even carbon fiber.

I still have my stock one but plan on getting a CF one veeeeeery soon.
Course I have to make sure my engine is running up to par first.
