I was sure that I needed a new clutch because it is impossible to chirp the tires in second gear. But I have tried the 4th gear at 20mph and the engine bogs a bit but the rpms do not raise higher than the engine speed. Can I do anything like lub or check to see if it is properly installed without costing me an arm and leg. Any advise would be great

I didn't know that not being able to chirp the tires in second was a test for the replacement time of a clutch.

I would say if the clutch hasn't changed in behaviour it is probably fine. It is when the RPMs climb during engagement is when it is starting to slip.

Yes. Just to clarify - when the clutch slips - in other words, the RPM's climb rapidly (out of synch with the road speed) when you would be expecting the clutch to catch - that's normally the symptom of needing a new clutch.

Sounds like your clutch is fine... maybe you're just too smooth and coordinated with your shifting to make the tires chirp?

Thanks for your help guys. I went out today and droped the clutch around 3grand in first and it spun for a few seconds and took off great. I also reved up to like 7krpm and the ground speed was 20mph and when i dumped the clutch the tires did spin. The thing is, when the wheels spin the bridgestone re010s it does not make a loud scretching sound but just spins silently and takes off. I also pushed the clutch in sharply and released it fast while on the gas and got some great jerky clutch grabing action. So I guess this means I can spend my money on Tein coil overs.

Sounds to me that the clutch may be the least of your worries if you keep dropping the clutch at high rpms and trying to chip the tires. You may be looking at replacing some drivetrain parts. Not really a good idea to launch the car like that. Just my .02.

Your too honest Bruce - this could be one of your best customers! LoL

I was just checking since I have never chirped the tires before. So dumping the clutch at 3k rpms is going to break the car? How do so many people run 1/4 mile after 1/4 mile and I cant spin my wheels one time without feeling like an a$$hole. So what will break if I do it again? Thanks for all the help..

In my opinion, the car was designed for fast lap times not 1/4 mile times. Launching the car at high rpms is only abusing the drivetrain. If it was meant for drag racing, it would have a hemi 4 spd and a dana rearend. Again, this is just my opinion I don't think you or anyone else is an a$$hole some guys get away with it and some don't.
Flame on if you wish!

Bruce, All I wanted to say was, that I dont drag race or spin the tires ever except for that one time to see if I could, as a way to see if my clutch would grab. IMO the nsx sucks for 1/4 mile racing in stock trim.
