oh come on thats so not fair! They arnt supposed to be able to catch us

Nice to see they can afford to buy that with the tax payers money.

Oh nevermind, I get it, it's not a REAL police car, it's just made up for the show (I would hope).

i don't think they're actual highway partrol cars... usually a joint publicity thing between the CHP and dealers/or manufactures.

IIRC, most of the budget for the CHP comes from DMV and registration fees. Next time you are experiencing the joy of going to the DMV, be sure to think about that nice PR car that was bought with a portion of your fees.

Those cars are not real cop cars, they weren't bought with taxpayer's money.

Correct...usually at least usually...the cars are decked out as a marketing promo for the CHP and the manufacturer, in this case Porsche. So for the most part your tax money is just being used to pay the officer's to stand by the car instead of being out on patrol, not the actual cars .

Sometimes the car is provided by an actual owner, and sometimes the car is provided by a local dealership. At least thats what they told me when I saw one of the CHP Turbo's at Laguna Seca a couple years back. The car was owned by a local track guy, and since the car was mostly black and carbon fiber already, it was easy to just paint the door panels white and apply the CHP decals. The owner apparently was friends with people at the CHP and does a lot of charity work and promos with the CHP so his car was used from time to time.
