Came across this review at edmunds.com for the new C6 by a former NSX owner: (Should I trade my NSX in for the new C6??? Thanks!)

Review: I have not owned an american car for 25 years. I have owned an Acura NSX, Lexus SC 430, BMW's, etc. I am proud to say that GM should be proud of their acheivement in the C6. Good build quality, great design and execution. The vette flat out beats the NSX in every area- handling, acceleration, speed. Even beats it in fun to drive factor. I was looking at a Porche 911, but after driving the new C6, there was no reason to spend the extra money. Great Car. I only have 900 miles on it so reliability is still an unknown.
Favorite Features: Engine, trans, handling, exterior design.
Suggested Improvements: The stereo system is a weak link compared to the Lexus. Roof creeks at times

Both cars may be nice, but I doubt the Corvette will beat the NSX in terms of reliability.

I could have easily purchased the new C6. I chose the NSX instead.

PS - I have grown tired of the C6 derivative styling since its introduction, whereas I have only grown more enamored with the NSX styling, although it is over 13 years old. Pretty soon when you see the new c6 styling will be so common that you'll start to ignore them.

On our local racing forum, I posted something about a corvette and an NSX, and the overall reaction was something like this:

"The vette is a better bang for the buck, but if I had my choice, I'd take the NSX in a heartbeat!!!"

that was from owners of Trans-ams, mustangs, camaros, integras, civics, sentras, and god knows what else.

Only C6 owners think the C6 is a better buy :) see what they think in 5 years when our 91 NSX costs more than there 04 C6s hahaha

Uh, in that review he posted he has a convertible. I read today that convertibles will not be out until Mid-Dec. according to USA Today (and he wrote the revoiew on 10/19). Could it be a troll who posted that review?

its all about the name. can he say that the c6 changed the way supercars were made??? i dont think soooooo
honda should just bring the type r over here and shut everyone else up or at least the s-zero. everyone compares their highest model to the base model nsx they dont know about the other models.

NSX is exotic, but too many Corvettes out there.

not to be offensive, but I hate people with domestic cars, they seriously think that Mustang can handle better than any Japanese cars and stuff.

some guy with 2001 red C5 Corvette wanted to race my 1994 RX-7 on highway...
oh yeah of course, I smoked him

Ok, my turn to chime in...

I've owned both cars and have taken both cars on a track with my amateur driving experience. 1991 NSX and 2003 Z06.

summary:

Z06 = better performing car. on and off track. (sorry guys)
NSX = better quality, looks (subjective), more attention.

Both are great cars. Take it from me, I've owned them and raced them around tracks. Of course Im far from a professional driver, but at least I can say that Ive been there.

I really like the styling of the new vette, and from what I have read, the performance is better -- at least the acceleration is. I'm sure the handling and braking is at best the same as an NSX, probably slightly worse. But considering the price, and the availability of such items like Navagation and heated seats, I'm going to have to seriously consider getting a vette when my NSX lease is up. But who knows....by then there will probably be at least a couple other new choices out there. That new Toyota hybrid sports car sounds interesting.

IMO,

if you have to choose between new cars, the Vette is WAY better than the NSX.

If you can choose a used NSX vs new Vette, they are about the same value in my opinion:

C6 wins in performance and has a full guarantee (since new)
NSX wins in lower depreciation (since used) and exoticness

About look, handling and braking I cannot give any opinion... :)

Wait for the Z06 to come out, even the supercharged NSX's will be getting beat down, and it has brembo's on it and pulls well over 1.0g on the skidpad. I think I am going to get one and I think the sterotype will be going away because that car will cost 70k outperform a viper, 996tt, and you can track it all day long.

Vettes are like bellybuttons, everyone has one!!!!

Funny thing is that the earlier model NSX's are getting pretty affordable and I've been seeing them quite often in San Jose. Dare I say, even around local highschools...

In my town of 29K people, there are approximately 73 C5 Corvettes, and 21 ZO6 Corvettes. At the last local autoshow, I met with many of the owners, and I know of 15 that are going to upgrade to the C6. There is ONE NSX in town..Mine... The next nearest town has 650K people, and there are TWO NSX's. I've seen several folks outdoing a ZO6 with their 97+ NSX on the track. I've also seen EVO's, 911, C5's, Noble, out perform 97+ NSX's. I know of several folks who have traded in their Z06's for NSX, F355, Esprits, 911, etc.. even though the ZO6 had better or equal performance. The NSX, Ferrari's, Lotus, Noble, etc.. are in an entirely different level of ownership.... IMHO...

Because they cost more. Most people spend as much as they can and care about what others think. There are a few out there that can have any car they want and care nothing of status but what they REALLY like regardless of status. Like my wife, we went out and drove a new 2004 BMW M3 convert, CLK55, and 10 other cars from 100k less. She hated the things and likes the 1995 Toyota Avalon XLS a lot better. She knows I will get her ANY car she want's but she likes her old Toyota.

No one is denying the C6 outperforms the NSX. That's not the only thing in the equation though.

Sure you can put NOS on a Civic and with other mods it will outperform even a C6.

I saw a red C6 last Friday, a yellow C6 yesterday. The look is already getting boring for me.

On my drive home last night, I saw a red 91 NSX, and I felt excited to see such a beautiful car. I feel virtually zero excitement when I see a C6.
