Hello everyone, this is willy, the new boy to the site
I am from Guelph ON
i dont know why, but i fall in love with nsx on the very first time i saw her on tv. and now i am just one step closer to my dream car.
i saw a 1991 JDM NSX on a site and its around 60 G, around 65000 - 70000 km ..
and just wondering what insurance company do you guys use ?
any advices?

what do i have to do to register the car? is it just like the other JDM cars ?

can't wait to be a real NSX owner and meet everyone. :D

Thanks

Do you have any pics? Because 55k that it a lots for 91

its 55000 i think... its a JDM one, and lots of mods.

I think most people would be hard pressed to pay that much for a Canadian 91 NSX, let alone a JDM NSX which is generally valued lower than a local car. You could buy a local 91 NSX and add a turbo kit for that much money.

yeah - that sounds like a terrible deal unless its trunk is full of JDM gold

A few locals are selling their great cars. I'd buy one of those, if you're looking for a 91ish car

JDM means its Right Hand Drive? Have you seen picts?

Seems silly - why buy a car that is basically exactly the same as the Left Hand Drive one to drive in Canada?

For the extra money the guy is asking you could mod the 91 Canadian car up REALLY nice!

Skip it! Besides, no way of getting history on it so you'll never know the story until it starts having problems.

JDM cars are worthwhile if you are buying something unattainable in Canada. JDM nsx's are mechanically identical to ours, except for the RHD. Mods also don't add value to a car, so you're paying top dollar for a car you're buying across the ocean, with unclear history through (I hope) a reputable dealer via a series of photos right? I would still look locally. I know most of the major players in the jdm import scene. Who are you going through? I run the GTRCanada.com site and imported the first Skyline GTR into Canada. I can suggest a few guys if you are convinced the jdm route is the way to go. Also factor in $3000 shipping charges and duty and taxes when the car lands, and then land transport to wherever you're located.

I can only give you info based on my experience in Ontario. Once you get the car, you need to get it safety inspected and e-test, both can be done at a local garage. You will also need an appraisal. Once you have all that, contact your insco broker and get a 19A policy to insure it under the appraised value. Mind you this was for a Skyline which at the time they had no data for. An nsx might be different and they might give you NA nsx rates. In Ontario they can insure and register the car using the jdm VIN. In other provinces they might have to assign a proper NA vin. Then you're good to go. Also bear in mind if the car is heavily modified, its likely the ECU is tuned to jdm gas octane (105). It will need to be retuned to your local juice. They measure their octane different there, so if you have access to 94 ocane here, it should be ok but best not to skip steps and take a chance..get a tune done! I have seen many high hp RB26DETTs detonate once landed. Depending on province, they might be anal about DOT headlights and sidemarkers. The west coast provinces are hardest on that. RHD is not that hard to get used to but after a year of ownership I never got used to backing into parking spots. I prefer my LHD nsx.

The nsx is still cheapest in the USA, if you want the best value for your dollar. You also have the benefit of carfax and the ability to fly out to see it in person before writing over a cheque.

EDIT: Is it this one?

yup, this one is the one that i am looking for. and thinking about buying this one.
what do you guys think ?

Its down to $53K. Still would avoid.

They are having a hard time selling.

I am sure this one cost them $25K at the jdm auction.

so you are saying that this car isnt that great or value that much ?
what will be a decent price for this car for me to get it from him, like 45 ?

thanks

I would buy a local car, and do the buildup yourself!

If you're a buyer of a 91 JDM for $60kish, Im a seller of my supercharged 02 with tons of great stuff done to it.

PM me if you want details!

Might be worth it if it was a NSX-R seeing how rare one would be and only maybe 483 of them produced,or maybe even an S or zero isn't that 97+?... but I thought the R wasn't produced until 92? So it could be an 'R' 15 years after now? If its not would be cheaper to be a Canadian car and do it as you like.

P.S We aren't far from each other, 'BigYellowMan' also lives nearby ... you can come down and take a look at our cars sometime (Well mine is in hiberntion untill spring) to help give you some ideas?

tell me you're getting out of your car and you want to buy a 360?

You can't take it to NSXPO you know!!!!

He should buy my 03 and I'll get a Silverstone one!

no, I have no intention of selling my car and if i were to, I wouldnt get a 360!

I seriously think that I would get laughed out of my office if I showed up with any fcar. Id save the dough and get a bad ass old school 996 gt3. Sooo cheap, but it would be a sideways step into a less cool car (especially after what arrived today)

Is that an S2000 beside the NSX? What the hell did they do to it? A roof scoop? They do such terrible things to cars in Japan.

+1, its a Eunos Roadster (aka Miata).

What arrived????

Also, I'm renting space right at Mosport this year - so you can keep your GT3 with my car!

Yeah, you are welcome to visit us in Waterloo. My car is a sleeping beauty right now.
