I bought a new battery and when I connected it up the horns went off continiusly. I then disconnected the horn and opened up car and tried to start but the engine will not fire?

Is this some kind of theft mechanism feature?

Thanks.

You set off the OEM alarm which I believe has a starter interrupt. Disconnecting the horns, however you did this, still leaves the starter kill engaged. If this is not an OEM alarm, same deal, starter kill is still engaged.

To get past this you need to disable the alarm, not just the horn. Disarm the OEM alarm by opening either door with the key.
