Need your input...neg camber with Eibach/Bilstein

I just lowered my '98 and the mechanic told me he can only get the front camber to -1.6 and the rear to -3.6. He used the upper perch and I have about a finger space between the tires and wheel well. I have viewed other posts and it appears others have been able to adjust to almost half. Is my mechanic missing something? The excessive rear camber looks goofy to me and I'll probably burn through rear tires. What are your results? Any advice would be appreciated.

Can you get a pic??

It sure sounds like he used the lower perch to me(at least the rear) The ride hieght you describe tells me the car is down about 2+" from stock, so 1.2" for the Eibach and 7/8" for the lower perch setting on the Bilstein.

Just as a reference I have Eibach and stock shocks and there are 1.5 fingers in the front gap and 2.5 for the rear. Your front camber does sound close though. I am at 1.4 negative. Only the rears sounds way out to me, mine are 2.4 negative.

I have the exact same setup and am -1.5 in the front and -2.5 in the rear.

BTW- my the dealer did not adjust my rear camber when I first lowered the car and I burned through the rears in 3k miles. The outside of the tire was near full tread depth but the inside was through the 2nd steel belt.

Larry's right and there is either a LOT more travel or the rears are on the lower perch.

Are we talking about stock rims and tires? If so you should have more space between tire and fender when the Bilsteins are really on upper perch (been there, done that).

Now, with the Bilsteins on lower perch I have about -2.5 degrees front and -2 degrees rear - I would want a bit more neg camber with my race slicks but there's no more possible.

I have 225 18's in the front with 275 19's in the rear. Does the camber directly relate to the ride height? He reduced the toe ft/rr but couldn't get the camber further upright. Should I get a 2nd opinion? Anyone in SF Bay area?

Hey Q382,

I live up in the SF bay area. I'm looking into a new suspension and rim set-up. You think you could show me your set-up and tell me where you got your stuff done.

Thanks,

Ken

I thing you need to know exactly where your ride hieght is. If it is low, you will not get the negative camber out. It should not be that low with the upper perch and Eibachs though.
