Guys,

I've been working with Work to get my wheels and here's where I stand:

Front 205/40/17 +37 (7.5in wheel)
Rear 255/35/18 +44 (9.5in wheel)

They claim that using 215's on the fron with +37 offset will rub. Can anyone confrim this?

Thanks - Ed

You should be fine as long as you are not too low. I have run 215-40/17 on a 8.5" rim with 38mm offset, lowered 1.25" and would rub at full lock, when parking, with a 7.5" rim you should have clearance.

My suspension is stock. Any idea why work is saying I need to go with 205/40/17's? For some reason they believe the 215's will be an issue. I just want to make sure that when I buy wheels I don't have an issue with rubbing.

Thanks... OK, just to make sure here's what I'm being offered by Work:

Front --> 7x7.5 +37 offset (I will use 215/40/17 tires)

Rear --> 18x9.5 +40 offset (I will use 255/35/18 tires)

From what I can tell they will look about the same distance from the fender well... is this right?

Second, neither will rub... is this right?

Thanks for all the great help!! I'm almost done!

I need to inform work today by 5:00 to get them on the next ship... any other comments on the sizes listed above?

Will they rub?

Will they match (distance to fender) and look right?

Thanks!!

Hi Ed,
How is the HID coming along? Your sizes/offsets of wheels are fine but there is no guarantee that the fronts will clear the caliper if the lips are big. You can use even wider tires such as 265 for the rear. What model wheels are you getting?

Hmmm.... this is killing me. If work says that the wheels will work with 205/40 tires, I have to assume they will clear the brakes, right?

What I need to know is if they will rub and if they will look right given the rear offsets.

BTW, the headlights are awesome!!

The sizes and the offsets you have are fine as far as telling how the wheels will sit within the wheelwells. You should really use 215-40-17 tires in front. The set up you have will be quite flush with the fenders and will look very nice. The back will not rub for sure, and the front should be fine. If the front rubs, it will be only minor and at steering extremes and that is not even a concern. However, you need to get a guarantee from your dealer that the spokes of the front wheels will clear the calipers. Most high-disc wheels with shallow lips will clear. The wheels that are more problematic are the fat-lipped kind since the deep wheel designs push the spokes more towards the center of the wheels and reduce the caliper clearance. That is why I need you to tell me what wheels you are buying to at least estimate if they will clear.

Thanks!! The wheels are Work VS-KF's.
Ok, I just looked at the wheels on Work's site. There are 3 different disk profiles, the O, A, and R, to choose from. Now you have another variable that will affect if the wheels will clear the brake caliper. Your dealer will need to help you out on this one. Just remember that given a particular wheel size and offset, the wheels with higher discs, with the spokes sticking out the most, and with the thinner lips will have better chances clearing the calipers.

Thanks. Given the +37 offset, I beleive they ahve taken the calipers into account. For some reason though, they beleive I need to us 205/40's and not 215/40's on the front given the +37 offset. From what I am readin, I'm not sure this is true and this is what I'm trying to verify.
