Hello, I need some advise with a problem that I'm having after getting an HID installed on my car.

I had a Phillips HID kit installed on my 1997 NSX yesterday, it works great, however, now my OEM alarm does not work. I'm taking the car back to the installer in the next couple of days to have a look at it.

- The keyless system works. I can lock and unluck without any problem.
- With the car locked, and Top off, I can reach in an open the door without the alarm going off. (I check the alarm and it worked last week).
- In addition, hitting the panic botton the alarm system does not come on.
- The security LEDs on the door blinks as normal when the system is turned on.

I need to get some ideas from you guys, so I can discuss them with the installer, and try to narrow down the issue.

Thanks, Bram

I dought very much that your headlights wether HIDs or not have anything to do with your alarm. More than likely, your installer messed with something he shouldnt have.

Hugh, good idea, I checked the horns and it's connections (all Three) and all are on nice and tight.

Armando, Are you sure the HID lights are not part of the Alarm system ? because if you trip the alarm system the head lights & horn turn on.

Assuming nothing else is touched during the HID installation, the circuit of the alarm is not affected. Something else is messed with or messed up.

Steve, Do you have an installation guild for your kit that you can provide to me?.

Another question, if the head light and blinkers are connnected to the secuirty when it's trigged, would this not be part of the lighting circuit?

Thanks for your input and insight

So let me get this straight... If you trigger the alarm the headlights pop up and flash along with the parking lights but there is no horn? Or does the car do absolutely nothing at all when the alarm is triggered?

Hugh, You got it right, the car does absolutely nothing at all when the alarm is triggered.

I was describing the normal operation when an alarm is triggered.

Hi Bram,
My HID kit is just like a pair of bulbs with long wires. You unplug the stock halogen bulb from the white nylon factory harness and then you plug the HID plug onto the factory harness and that's it.
Sounds like there are possibilities that your driver's door alarm switch might be grounded so your alarm still thinks that your door is still OPEN so it won't arm or trigger. Just a thought.
