Need Picture of Comptech's newer Targa Strut Bar

Thanks Mark. From your web site, you have the newer brace which fits the oem engine cover without installing a SC or changing the cover. I believe they started making these in 2001. See the right side brace in your picture vs. the one from Comptech's web page ;)

Happy Holidays.

Hi Hrant,
I am a little confused. As you know, I had wanted a CTSC for my 1997 white Targa for the longest time but just could not accept the Comptech engine cover with the cloth pouch for the targa top. I have discussed this with Bob a few times this year and he never told me that the new strut bar will accept the stock clam-shell. Because of this, I went out to buy a coupe and CTSCed it instead of the T. I was beating my head when I saw John Richards' CTSC with a modified stock clam-shell which fits on top of old strut bar. Are you sure that this new strut bar will allow the stock clamshell?

Hi Steve,

Hmmmm, that is what Shad told me on Tuesday.

I am guessing that the issue is no longer the newer strut brace - which was indeed changed for those who wanted the brace without the SC on a T, but still the SC blower itself given how it sits on top of the engine. I think the blower is the one that still causes the problem - but others with the SC might know better.

By the way, who/where did John get his modified?

Anywho, I will find out sometime this week if the new brace fits under the cover or not .... just need a sunnier day to tinker with an NSX friendly Santa gift ..... ;)

Steve, that line is reserved for Kip ........ ;)

Just installed the brace. It does fit under the Targa oem engine cover and lid. I checked the under lid and spacing, so the brace is not the issue but most likely the blower.

Latching the glass took more force and effort than I expected even after lowering all 4 rubber spacers on the side. There was no other adjustment on the front end that I could see to make the effort less forced. I checked the latch area as well. I will extend the remote latch screw further but I doubt it. Perhaps after driving around things will settle.

But it's one nice piece of machinery!
