Anyone have experience with the OEM spec Exedy with lightened flywheel?

I don't have a supercharger and don't foresee installing one in the near future so longevity, price, and quality is more what I am looking for.

OEM clutch plus lightened flywheel is another option as well.

Found this in Boulder, which is not too far from me.

$1295 Acura OEM clutch plus flywheel combo. Does a lightened flywheel really make that much difference? I might just get this, seems to be the fastest route available.

Thanks.

Previous owner said clutch was changed back when the car had 60 some K miles on it.

It now has 90K on the odometer. Do OEM clutches really run out this quick?

Found ACT clutches as an inexpensive alternative. Wondering if anyone has tried these as well.

Thanks.

This is de'ja-vous for myself! My NSX had it's original clutch go out 55k; it was replaced w/ another OEM clutch. Fast-fwd to 85k miles and the clutch gave-out w/o much notice (eg. no gradual slippage). As'per the tech's insight: "clutch material was present, but broke-off." I went w/ OEM clutch once again. I was quite disappointed as one of hallmarks of my NSX was that the clutch was changed in 2002, prior to my purchasing it.

As far as pricing regarding the OEM clutch-kit and throw-out bearing, get the Acura dealership parts dept' to price match Dali Racing's OEM clutch-kit/bearing package:

Clutch Kit: OEM Acura [ 5-Speed with BOTH Bearings ] $1125 + s/h

Thanks Osiris. I send some emails out for some price quotes on multiple clutches.

Just before the clutch goes out, symptoms are the gears start to shift real easily into 2nd and 3rd and feel slightly loose right?

I'm going to shop around a bit more, to see, if i can something with a lightweight flywheel.

I'm starting to doubt if the owner really changed the clutch because he didn't have a receipt to prove it.

Just go get the RPS from SOS or Dali. I have it and I love it. It is harder to press down on the clutch pedal but now I am used to it- I would not go any other clutch. The light flywheel is definately worth it too.

They are all good clutches.

I might try the Exedy if I get a good deal on them, pending a phone call back tomorrow.

Do you guys know how much labor is estimated to be?

Thanks for the info again.

I have a SOS Centerforce twin-disc performance Clutch with the SOS 9.7 pound light flywheel that has about 1,000 miles on it. I think it was installed without input shaft grease as it was sticking on re-engagement. I took my car to the local dealer to have it fixed as it was installed out of state and I couldn’t drive the car back to the installer to have the problem fixed with out the chance of damaging my new six-speed transmission, but the local dealer would only guarantee a fix if a new factory clutch was installed. I'll offer the clutch/flywheel/throw out bearing for $900 plus shipping from SF Bay area. PM Michael if interested

Michael,

I have just ordered the Exedy Hyper Single clutch earlier today, but thanks for the offer.
