My friend is in the market for an NSX and wanted others' opinions on a particular car.

They would give him a price of $32,500 w/o the rims. It would be replaced by 94-96 stock rims. What do you guys think about this car/deal? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of condition is it in? Does it have a clear title? Accident history? What about maintenance - have the timing belt and water pump been changed? Have the window regulators been updated?

There are several members of these forums in the KC area. Have someone check it out in person.

The dealership said the car has a clear title. I'm not totally sure on the accident history part though. I would love to have someone on these boards check it out in person but how would I go about doing that? Sorry, I'm new to these boards and thanks a lot for the help.

i am NOT qualified to review a car---but i could glance it over and give you some novice impressions. also, be careful--there is a salvage operation in this area that is selling salvaged/damaged nsx's for undamaged nsx prices.

feel free to private or better yet page me at 800 678 6310

looks like a re-paint?if i'm not mistaking i've seen this outfit adverdise 5 rebuilder NSX's in the k.c. star a couple of years ago?
btw-being in Hi. you couldn't you find one on the coast?

Had a salvage title issued Jan, 97 in Florida, and a Salvage/rebuilt title issued on Nov, 98 in Illinois. I thought the price seemed a bit too good for 25k miles.

NVSNSX: BTW, I would have e-mailed you the carfax report, but you don't post your e-mail address in your profile.

Hey guys, sorry to bother again but this is a real emergency. My friend and I have found a 91' NSX 5spd with 21,600 at a local Acura dealership going for $25K-26K with all service done (timing belt, water pump, clutch)! Although I trust the word of this dealership, I can't help but to have some doubts. The deal just seems to good to be true. The salesman at Acura told me the car has a clear title and has never been in any prior accidents but, just to be sure could someone run this VIN# for me? JH4NA1158MT000088 You guys are the most knowledgeable people, and offer the best advice out there so I was wondering what you think of this deal? Thanks for the help again guys!

Carfax looks okay. If you want others to take a peek at the car, you might want to take some pics and post them for others to look at. I blows my mind what some of these guys can spot just from pics.

Hey thanks again KGP, your the best!

Well I guess my friend will try to go through with the purchase of the car and become a member of this wonderful community. The deal wasn't that great though, dealership bumped the price up to 30K after all the servicing.

The dealership said they had other prospective buyers willing to pay more for the car. Even though my friend was the first in line, the lowest they could sell him the car for now would be 30K.
frown.gif
The car is in immaculate condition inside and out, the best looking 91' I have personally come across. Still a good deal or not? Sorry for the confusion.

If your friend and the dealer had agreed on a price and committed to the deal, then shame on the dealer for backing out of that commitment (and there may be legal recourse). If the dealer realized that they had underpriced it before making a deal on it, then it's their prerogative to raise the price.

It's hard to tell. Even if it's in good condition. Just to cite a couple of "for instances", you don't mention the snap ring status or the window regulator status.

However, I would think that your island nation is something of a special case, in that a car may be worth more there (when buying) or less (when selling) just because the market is relatively small on each island, and shipping to/from anywhere else (even another island) involves significant expenses.

You are totally in the know nsxtasy. The dealer gave an estimate on what they were thinking of selling the car for. When the market exploded they most certainly had to raise the price. The car also is not in snap ring range and the window regulator works perfectly (for now). Your also right about the NSX market down here. The resale value on these cars is above average due to the limited amounts. You are a very knowledgeable and helpful person, thanks again.

No problem.

If you're not sure whether the regulators have been updated, I strongly recommend that you buy a pair of the window fix-it thingies ($16) from Dali Racing so that you have them on hand when you open up the doors to check. Don't put this off, as it could fail at any time. If a regulator fails, you're usually looking at $400-500 to replace it, and the thingies will prevent this. The difference in cost makes this a no brainer.

There's more info and photos in the Power Windows section (under the Troubleshooting heading) of the FAQ.

Just keep in mind that two different cars are discussed in this topic. The eBay auction car in Missouri is not the car on which the Hawaii dealer increased their asking price.
