Hello, I have a 95 Nsx-T and ever since I bought it when I turn the steering wheel it makes a loud sqeaking noise. I had the dealer check it out and they stated that it was my rack and pinion and it would be $4500 to replace. Well F that. Is there anything I could do to get rid of the noise when I turn my steering wheel? thanks

Have you given any thought to having the steering pump checked? If the noise you hear is more of a squeal than a squeak, then, based on my experience with Hondas in general, it may be a pump issue.

The NSX power steering is electric. There is no pump or fluid.

Do you get a EPS lite on the dash? If not, I would first disable the EPS and see if the noise changes. Also, would you consider a used PS rack?

HTH,

Your problem sounds (no pun intended) like it is mechanical in nature. However, be aware that 95 NSXs have a "recall" to replace the EPS ECU. This is a one-time repair. Owners that were registered in Honda's database when the "recall" occured (about two years ago?) received a letter advising them to take the vehicle to an Acura dealership for repairs. Maybe, just maybe, they can do something for the rack.

hEY THERE TAKITO I HAVE REPLACED ABOUT 3 OF THE ELECTRIC RACKS IN 10 YEARS AND ALL FOR THE SAME REASON .THAT SQUEEK NOISE .YOU CAN HEAR IT RIGHT AT THE RACK JUST BY TURNING THE WHEEL.DOESN'T HAVE TO BE RUNNING.WHY DON'T YOU TRY AND THROW A MANUAL RACK IN FRON AN EARLY CAR AND LOOSE THE EPS STUFF .I'M PRETTY SURE IT'LL WORK.GOOD LUCK DAVE H.
