Need help with steering column

The teeth on my steering column is badly damaged due to an idiot trying to steer my car with a vise grip while the oem steering wheel was being repaired. Now I can't reinstall my oem steering wheel, it won't even go in because of the damaged teeth. What can I do to fix this problem?

Take a file and shape the teeth back into form.

Or dremel? With so many bits and tips, you may find one that will work for you.
