I need help guys trying to find out what this is or where it is supposed to go.

Andy had it wired into the fuse box by the drivers side foot. I have three wires there and I don't really know what does what.

There is a red wire from the radar detector. I am fine on that. Then there are two black wires and only one fuse connected.

I have no idea what this big long black thing is. It has a fuse inside it. I am wondering if any are related to the FJO wideband because it does not seem to be working. (no display). One of the sides is twisted with a small red wire.

who knows?

I do.

However, it has been almost three years since I installed it and I do not have the FJO wiring diagram memorized.

What is pictured above is the fuse in the power lead to the FJO. I seem to recall that from the controller mounted in the engine compartment, there is a four-wire cable that connects to the AFR display in the cockpit. Those wires are red, black, green, white. I'm pretty sure the power lead (with the above shown fuse) goes from the fuse-box by the driver's left foot all the way to the controller in the engine bay.

Why is that fuse removed from the car? Is the fuse blown?

You mention three "foreign" wires in that fuse-box. One is for the Valentine. One is for the FJO. I do not remember if the third is for the SS or if the SS is powered from the ECU. Check the color-coded wiring diagram for the SS upgrade, where it gets its power from.

First, the radar detector stopped working (remote mount). So I went in there and fixed it.

Second, when I took the SSBOX out, the FJO stopped working. Not sure why. Is it connected somehow? It has not worked since the SSBOX was removed, however, even when I put it back, it still didn't work.

So yesterday I went in to the lower fuse box, and it looks like this peice was not connected to anything. It was tied into the red-wire, but it was not connected. So I am trying to figure out where it goes. It looks like it may have possibly been tied in with another black wire that goes to the fuse.

Any thoughts?

The FJO and SS are not related nor connected in any way. Your above statement substantiates that fact. When the car’s engine was rebuilt by MB, the first gen SS was already in place. A month or two later I added the Valentine and a month after that I added the FJO. For the FJO to not work – with or without the SS – is a mystery to me. However, I have heard of other FJOs to suddenly stop working. Coincidence? I don’t know, but it may be a possibility.

Having not tinkered with Saint’s wires for a very very long time, and not having any wiring diagrams, I don’t remember what goes where…..perhaps you can post a picture of the fuse box and it might trigger a memory.

Wait a minute…..years ago I had a Uniden radar detector that was suction-cupped to the windshield. The power lead was run through the a-pillar and tucked under the rubber trim towards the rear-view mirror. It may very well be that when I threw the Uniden in the trash, I abandoned its wires in place, which would’ve included the fuse in the picture that I just “left it hanging”. Make sense?

aftermarket harness/fuse for radar detector...

That'd be my assumption as well. My NSX came w/ a "Snooper" built-in front/rear radar detector (similar to the dated K-40), though I use a V1. I recall relatively similar wiring-harness/fuse-holder.

It is at the shop now. Maybe they can figure it out. I will give them your info.

I sure as hell hope the FJO just didn't decide to stop working.

It has happened to an NSXer in San Antonio.

One day, yes.

Next day, no.
