I'm installing AEM wideband O2 sensors this weekend, and the controller box that I'm mounting in the engine bay has 2 black wires to connect to "battery" ground.

Is it necessary to run a lead all the way to the battery?

Is it OK to connect the 2 wires together and then run one wire to ground?

Thanks for any imput!

Steve

Hi Steven,

Hope all is well with you folks. You engine has a good ground strap already, just depends on year for location. Some NSX's have one on the passenger side by the alternator bracket, and/or on the front valve cover inboard mounting bolt.

These connections going directly to the body with good contact should be OK. If you twist then together to a single wire, thoeretically the single wire should be larger to carry both wires ground current, so I would run a size or two 2 larger wire gauge if you run a single run.

Grounding problems will make you crazy, so make sure they both have good connections. For these type of splices I do prefer soldering them, so no future problems develop.

Aem recommends that the driver box for the widebands ONLY be wired directly to the negative terminal of the battery. Quite a few threads about it on AEMPower.com when they were first sold. HTH
