Just got this in the mail from Dave.

We're pleased to announce our 2009 schedule and pricing, hopefully you will find some good dates to pencil in to your calendar:

Feb 13, Thunderhill
March 21-22, Thunderhill
June 6-7, Buttonwillow
June 20-21, Thunderhill
Aug 29-30, Thunderhill
Sept 25, Thunderhill
Nov 30, Thunderhill

We may add a single day event here or there as we try to fill out some of the holes - any schedule updates or changes will be at www.ncracing.org/events.php

As usual, we'll have the full complement of safety (fire, EMP, ambulance, tow) and track workers at these events. We've decided to continue experimenting with our low pricing through 2009. Our open track events will be between $99-$125, and racing at $99 per day.

:eek::eek: :biggrin: :biggrin:

$99 for a 3 session race day: If you've got a prepped race car, that's some unbelieveably cheap test time for a relatively clear track.

Re: How long can it last?

Wonder if they'll do a season pass
I think they just did. Better get a cage in your car and be in the race group; If this works at all, the HPDE groups will be like rush hour traffic on the Cap City Freeway. :frown:

So, uh, Larry......... just between you and me, you bought out Team Steve yet?

LOL...I think Team Steve will be alright:wink: Besides, I can barely afford to do my monthly DE's. Should have been a heroin addict instead!

NCRC track days might look more like a scene from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome if they keep lowering the price.

Is this a strictly race event? What do I need to do to pass tech inspection? I've got an oil pan seep leak but it doesn't drip.

You should be fine, but better bring some extra oil along just in case.

BTW, did you ever get around to installing that custom Magnaflow exhaust I gave you last year?

No, don't let the name fool you, it's just another track day club with a small sister organization of racers (American Racing Club) who get their own race group at certain events.

Some people see a difference between NCRC and other clubs like Trackmasters, but some of us are easy and don't.

Actually I haven't. I gave it to a local nsx owner/buddy of mine to install on his car but he's been dragging butt. I've really wanted to hear what it was gonna sound like.

I did bring it to a muffler shop and asked them to install it without chopping up my existing exhaust components but they said they didn't have any flanges nor could they get any. So months went by and I actually found some flanges that'll fit and work for $20 or so from Kragen. Now it's at my buddy's place just sitting and waiting........

Dang, just googled the track location. Didn't realize it was soooo far away from Merced.

Re: Clarification

Let me just add some serious input on this deal. I don't know how they can do it, but they are and simply stated, that's amazing.

My previous comments about rush hour traffic were flippant and inaccurate since the car count is controlled in each group. So conditions on track won't be any different than previous years. And with T-Hill re-paved, they'll actually be better.

Also, I might add that NCRC is not "just another track day club". I've been running with Dave since 2000 or so and have to say he's one of the nicest guys running one of the best groups around and he does it year in and year out. For anyone who does something like this, you know what a thankless job it is. He hardly ever gets to run his car himself.

And personally, I particularly like that they have created the ARC for racing. That sets the club apart big time.

Anyway, since SCCA is talking some major increases in my race entry fees because the track rental costs are going up, I would be all over this NCRC deal. They can't do it forever.

You will need a Roll Cage, 5 or 6 Point Harness, Window net to pass the ARC tech. For the driver, A Driver Suit, up to date helmet, Gloves & shoes.

Later,
Don

wowza...... yeah, don't think I'll be there lol

This is a DE as in Driving Education  they will run a few races in the schedule but that's just time to get a drink and watch.

You don't need a cage, belts (other than stock), nets, or suit, gloves, shoes? I've run with these guys and all they ask is a good running car. Get an alignment and a newer Moto Helmet. You'll have fun ask for an Instructor if this is a first time on T-Hill or Sears

You will see TiDave and I at a few of these. In one of our POS NSXs (IF RUNNING ) or our fallback car (MINI NSX) SH!TBOX MR2  that is used for the 24hr of Lemons (IF WE DON"T PUT IT ON ITS ROOF THIS DEC but we might bring it anyway)

See you at the track.............

Tech from the NCRC site:
Prepare Your Car
Car Condition and Maintenance
In general, a well-maintained street car should be able to drive directly on to the track. Here are the specifics you need to check at least a month in advance of the track day. These are listed here because some of these items could take quite a while to get fixed.

Check tire wear, keep in mind that they'll wear very fast on the track. If they're even close to the wear bars, replace them before coming to the track. Make sure they're a correct speed rating
Wheels must have no sign of cracks or structural damage
Check brakes - pads at least 1/2 new, brake fluid replaced in the last year and bled before each event, rotors with plenty of spare meat on them. Your brakes are probably the most critical component, make sure they're fresh and ready to work.
Brake rotors must not have any cracks. Minimal hairline cracks in rotors are normal, but should not open or extend to the edge of the rotor
Firm brake pedal
Crack-free flexible brake lines
Brake lights functional
Wheel bearings tight with no play
Minimum steering play
No exposed electrical wires
Sound exhaust with no leaks. Drivers must be aware of, and meet track-specific rules on mufflers and sound levels, especially at Laguna Seca
Seat bolted in tight
Battery bolted down with 2 bolts
No fluid leaks (oil, fuel, water)
Catch container on radiator overflow
Throttle has quick, positive return
Body has no loose panels, dangerous protrusions, or dangerous rust
At least one rear-view mirror must be present
Good 3, 4 or 5 point seat belts
Good headrest
Good door and window latches
All open cars must meet NCRC Convertible Rules. Open cars include convertibles, purpose-built race cars without tops, roadsters, targa-top cars, etc.
Snell 00 or newer helmet. Legal helmets include Snell SA00, M00, K00, SA2000, M2000. Helmets showing any damage or missing a Snell sticker will not be approved. After Jan 1, 2007 SA2000 or M2000 helmets or newer will be required.
2.5lb fire extinguisher recommended, but not required. Metal mount bracket
Please note that if you're going to have an instructor in the car with you, it's good practice to provide the same safety equipment (harnesses, roll protection) for the passenger's seat as for the driver's seat. We don't want the instructor out there risking his life anymore than you are!
