Those of you who have installed the JDM Nav Pod, could you share some hints/photos of your screens and/or installation process?

I was thinking about using Loctite Silicone Adhesive to mount the screen. I'm just not sure if this is the best solution..

Thanks for any pointers!

Hey Guys,

I recently had the Nav pod and screen installed. The shop used a black epoxy material along with a specially made bracket to attach the screen to the pod. The bracket screws into the back of the screen and the epoxy is only used on the corners to keep it tightly in place.

The screen used is the Alpine TME 760.

Here is the thread.

No, because it is integrated into the display and fitted to the pod. However, we could do the install for you. E-mail for details.

Carma,

I've got a 8" widescreen that just barely fits into the pod.. It provides edge to edge screen unlike the 6.5 alpine. Yes it will take a lot more work, but it looks a lot better. I just need to figure out how I want to mount the screen in there. I am experimenting silicone adhesive and a home-made bracket. I think I will try the epoxy as well, but am concerned about it eating into the plastic.

Will post pics soon.

Thanks for the info NSX2NV,

You wouldn't happen to have any pics of the bracket or the back side of the pod before installing into the car would you?

I have several ideas to go one, but not sure which would be best. I don't want to try all of them as they might damage the pod on removal.

I already have the NAV pod installed in the car but am waiting on MJ to get back with me on the permanent mounting aspects of it.

i'm installing the display pod and i have some questions about mounting it on the dash. it does not click in like the vent it is replacing. there is no tension on the 2 clips on the bottom. what do i do to make it snug and tight? also, can i get away without using the 2 screws in the rear? i'd hate to drill holes into the dash.

The factory uses the front clips and screws it into the dash. Make sure you have the half height vent in the rear. If you don't I have a couple available. We should have brackets negating the need to screw into the dash for the pod finished soon.

How is the glare on the nav pod? The radio and climate control displays get pretty washed out from sun in certain angles, is the display still clear?

Thanks.

Yes, the PS2 is in the glove box. Wife loves playing pole position while on trips in the car. Funny the though, she is playing with a fake car while I get to do the same thing in a REAL car.
