I agree that link seems rather off the mark, but I do think there is a lot of confusion about "ram air" in cars. Many people seem to confuse "cold air intakes" with "ram air". A couple general things to consider about "ram air":
1. Ram air effects are all about the inlet, not the air passage behind the inlet.
2. Ram air inlets have to stick out into the air stream. Hence the phrase "scoop". A recessed air intake vent like on the side of the NSX will never be a "ram air" inlet.
3. Even if you have a true ram air inlet, you have to be hauling butt before you there is a measurable performance gain from a "ram air" effect. We are talking about almost nothing below 100 MPH, and really much faster to get any useful gains.
