I was changing my air filter & noticed that tucked under the driver's side of the engine bay opening just above the edge of the airbox is a black wire in skiny wire loom, then passes (no loom anymore)thru 2 pieces of black plastic tape (arranged length wise with wire passing thu middle), then bare black wire with a cut end showing a few mm of clear plastic insulation over the wire strands. It is running from rear towards front tucked under drivers side of engine bay edge. I am afraid I broke it off of the little electrical doohicky at extreme LF of engine bay, but I don't think so. Is this the antenna for the alarm maybe? Any one stumbled across it before or know what it is? I hate mystery wires that just dangle to nowhere. Thanks for any advice.

Need a picture but it doesn't sound factory at this point. I would guess that it's a ground for an aftermarket alarm siren. Does your alarm siren still chirp?
If your car originally had the "factory" (dealer-installed) phone this could be a left-over from an incomplete removal. I would check to see where in the trunk it ends up.
